Gage’s Favorite Comics #44
Today’s Webcomic: Poppy O’Possum by Ian Everett
Rating: Teens and up (violence, mild language, suggestive humor) Genres: Action, adventure, sci-fantasy, furry Started in: 2013 Status: Updates Mondays & Fridays
Miss Poppy Odeletta Possum just wants to live a nice, quiet life with her daughter, Lily. However, life for o’possums in Flora tends to be quite difficult for a multitude of reasons. In Poppy’s case in particular, she’s got everything from the mafia to literal monsters after her.
It’s a good thing she could easily bench-press a house.
When I say this comic is one of my favorites, I’m talking at least TOP 3 FAVORITE WEBCOMICS OF ALL TIME. Poppy O’Possum is a distillation of just about everything I could ask for from a story.
The story is powerful, tugging at your heartstrings with a tale of a mother trying to connect with her daughter.
Yet, at the same time, it’s easily one of the funniest comics I’ve ever read. This cast is hilarious, and everything from their expressions to their delivery highlight that.
PLUS it’s chock-full of intense action and fights. Everett’s pleasantly cartoony yet highly detailed art style works perfectly for everything from the explosive to the silly.
This story is representative of all of the best things the medium of webcomics can offer. A complex, exciting, and funny comic taking place in a richly detailed sci-fantasy world that only gets better with every page.
Take on the world and win with Poppy O’Possum.
