Pairing: Ian x Vampire!Reader (mentioned), Adam x Sister!Reader
A/N: Don't really know what this is. Just something that came to mind. Set around the time Ava shows up unannounced in the movie. Enjoy!
His back was to her, but she could tell how tense he was with the way he gripped the cocktail cannister that held some of “the good stuff” in his hand and glaring down at it. She would’ve made a joke by asking what the container did to piss him off, but she didn’t think it was the best time. Things were always tense whenever Ava dropped by.
“Hey,” she decided to go with.
He turned around upon hearing her. He didn’t look all too happy to see her, but he at least appeared to be more relaxed. “Hey,” he said back. “What are you doing here?”
Just then, he tensed up again. His eyes slightly narrowed as he pointed an accusing finger at her. “Ian’s not with you, is he?”
“Of course not. I came to talk to you guys about something. But it looks like that something has already made herself at home.”
His expression morphed into one of bewilderment just then. Soon turning to sardonic amusement. “You had a dream about Ava too, huh?”
It was her turn to look puzzled as she pointed a questioning finger of her own. “Did you--?”
He nodded. “Eve and I did. And Marlowe as well. Apparently, that was her way of trying to reach out to us. To let us know she was coming.”
“Fuck!” She whisper-shouted.
“My sentiments exactly,” He poured some blood in a few small glasses, offering one to her. “If I were you, I’d head back to Ian’s. At least one of us would be safe from her clutches.”
“You know there’s only so much you can tolerate when it comes to her,” she reasoned. “With Eve and me here, things might be somewhat tamed. I’ll just tell Ian a family emergency came up and stay over for a night or two.”
She suddenly seemed to be far away, frustrated with her thoughts as she knew, once again, she had to keep something from Ian. While it wasn’t technically a lie, she’d still have to be vague about the details. Adam could sense the mixed emotions his sister was going through. It was why he requested she go back to her boyfriend’s. But she had been right; she and Eve were the only ones capable of making sure things didn’t go completely to Hell.
“She’s not staying for much longer than that,” Adam assured her. “She hasn’t been here long, and already she’s starting to act out.”
“This isn’t going to be like Paris, Adam,”
He sighed as he reached for a glass of his own. “Let’s hope,”
The siblings half-heartedly clinked their glasses together before bringing them to their lips. But he interrupted the moment with one more thing:
She groaned as she felt herself being shaken awake. Her annoyance soon melted away, however, once her vision became less fuzzy and she caught sight of her boyfriend crouched down beside her and wearing that shy grin she loved so much.
“Sorry to wake you,” Ian mumbled. “But didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye.”
Peering over at the clock on her nightstand, she saw that it was almost five in the morning. She groaned again; she didn’t like it when he left super late (or super early, to some). His sleep schedule was already off-balanced enough with his job and her brother having him as his personal errand boy.
“Can’t you stay a little longer?” She pleaded.
“I wish I could, but my flight leaves very soon. And I have some music people I have to meet with tomorrow night.”
“Okay, but you’ll be back in two weeks right?”
“Definitely,” Ian grinned before leaning forward to give her a good, long kiss goodbye.
This had been their routine for almost two years now. It was a struggle at first with the constant back and forth and then the added revelation of what she and her family were, but they were able to adjust for the most part. They cared for one another too much to let what they had go so easily.
Even when they had only been on a handful of dates, it was almost unreal how intense their feelings were. Y/N knew this was definitely something she had never felt before. Like many others of her kind, she had her share of casual lovers throughout the centuries she lived -- only giving her heart to one or two souls.
She made peace long ago with the idea that there might not have been a special someone for her. She had convinced herself that the love she shared with her family was enough to sustain her. She did her best to be happy for her brothers as she’d watch them interact with their loves they had found; laughing at the way Peter would banter with Rowan, be fascinated at how Adam and Eve were able to communicate with one another without words.
She was happy for them, yes. But envious as well.
None of the others she’d been with made her feel what she did with Ian. Since the night they met, she would think back to the stories she heard long ago about their kind and their version of soulmates. They weren’t known to play around with their feelings. They may give in to carnal urges from time to time, but there’s very few they were willing to place their trust in.
And with Y/N and Ian’s relationship being a special case, she was willing to make it work no matter what way they chose to go about it all.
''Listen darling, all you've got to do right? You just take these, put them in some water right? Unless you want to dry them, dried flowers are amazing. You can use them for potpourri and stuff.''
Ian nodded as he continued to listen to what Peter had to say. What luck for him to be in Detroit on business. He was just who he wanted to speak to about what he planned on doing the next time he saw Y/N. Well, maybe that wasn’t entirely true.
Peter wasn’t exactly his first choice. He could’ve tried talking to one of his human friends that were in serious relationships of their own, his mother or even Eve if he especially wanted an unfiltered, unbiased opinion on the matter. But she was still doing what she did in Tangier. Regardless, Ian knew that if had to choose between Y/N’s two brothers, Peter would be the one to do his best to not judge as he gave his two cents.
At least then the risk of him being maimed would drop a good amount.
“She’ll really like these,” Peter continued, offering the small bundle of flowers. “They’re just like the ones we had outside our home, growing up. She used to love frolicking in the field and pick as many flowers as she could.”
Just then, Ian thought of his girlfriend. A mini version of her running around so carefree with her sweet smile intact. They had touched upon the subject of children in the past, and while it may have been a giant sacrifice to make when it came to dedicating his life to her, he knew it was worth it. He never even played with the idea of having children of his own until falling in love with Y/N.
“Can I ask you something?”
As expected, Peter offered him a friendly smile to let him know he was all ears with what he had to say. A nice change from the scary expressions Adam had to offer when it came to stuff like this.
“Yes?”
“How did you know Rowan was the one you wanted to be with?”
He got a bit worried when Peter’s expression went on to be a little more puzzled, as though unsure where this was going. Thankfully, he decided to answer without another second to think about it.
“I guess it was the way we were able to stand together through hard times. As you know, we met each other during a time where a love like ours wasn’t exactly celebrated. Quite the opposite. We had to earn the bliss we have now. That’s how it is with love, I suppose.”
Ian nodded, letting his words sit with him. Love was definitely work. Twice the hard work when it came to unique situations like this one. But it was all about being with someone that makes you want to do it. Someone that doesn’t make it feel like work.
And Ian did his best when it came to Y/N. The long distance, the different sleeping patterns and, of course, the morbid fact that he would eventually grow old and die. But he did all he could to make it work and be there for her. If he was meant to wither away, he would happily do so if it meant he gave his time to her.
“I know what you’re up to,”
Ian wasn’t able to escape Adam like he intended to. As harsh as it sounded -- especially since he was someone he genuinely looked up to -- Ian didn’t want to get the third degree from him. Had he contemplated getting his blessing? Sure. But his fear took over, knowing his thoughts on the relationship already.
So to now hear that Adam knew what he was planning on doing behind his back got him scared shitless.
“What do you mean?” Ian sputtered, deciding to play dumb.
The vampire could only narrow his eyes in response. He wasn’t in the mood for games. Then again, when was he? Ian grew more fearful as Adam stared him down. He had no choice but to sigh and give in.
“How did you know?”
“Speaking as someone that’s been hiding their true nature for 500 years, I know a bad liar when I see one,”
Ian could get that. Especially, now that he thought about it some more, he wasn’t the best with hiding his intentions the last several weeks. Adam must have spotted the catalogs he saved that had a great selection he could choose. If that didn’t get him to question anything, the way Ian showed interest in Adam’s marriage was definitely a big hint.
The two of them had a mostly business-like relationship with not a lot of personal information being transferred between themselves. That hardly changed when Ian started seeing Y/N; the two men not wanting this to change the arrangement they had, despite Adam being strongly against their coupling. So when he began to ask about the ways Adam made his marriage work, that was a definite red flag. Why would he be curious about his life and become suddenly bold enough to ask questions if he didn’t have some ulterior motive to his actions.
“Doesn’t help that you kept eyeballing my wedding photos,”
Ian cursed to himself. He was so stupid to think he could get away with how he kept checking out the old pictures Adam had of him and Eve. In his defense, they had been among the many photos Adam had of his heroes. Of those he knew once. He supposed it was because those particular ones were kept close and meant for his eyes only.
Those moments where Ian would sneak a peek, wondering about the ways he could have something similar with Y/N, he could understand how anyone could’ve caught on to what he was up to.
“Adam, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. But you need to know that I love her. She’s it for me. I’ve known that since I first saw her, and that feeling hasn’t changed. I hope you understand.”
“I do,”
Well that was certainly something that caught him off guard. Adam wasn’t exactly someone that green lit what Ian had with Y/N. So to hear that he seemed to be okay with this next step...
“I may not be 100% okay with what you have with my sister, but I know how much you care about her. However, I can’t let you propose with just any ring.”
Ian wondered what he could mean by that until Adam pulled out something from the pocket of his robe. Revealing what he could describe as the shiniest and most beautiful diamond ring he has ever seen.
“This once belonged to one of the Bronte sisters, I can’t remember which. Either way, they were a couple of the few people Y/N admired and miss dearly. She’ll really appreciate it if you give this to her instead.”
Ian couldn’t help but smile. He may have not known who exactly were the people Adam was talking about, but he knew this was his way of getting his blessing in a way. It may not have been said out loud, but he knew Adam was aware of the feelings he had for Y/N. He wasn’t messing around when it came to her.
“Thanks Adam,”
The day had finally arrived. Well, the night. Whatever.
Ian didn’t have a complete plan, more of a hope that she’d say yes. It might have been why he decided to do it after witnessing her staring out the large window she possessed in her apartment when he welcomed himself in. This was it then, especially when Y/N turned to welcome him with a smile before going back to her other view.
“I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this sight,” she reflected, her eyes never leaving the lights the city of New York had to offer for the late night. She was sitting down on the chaise lounge that was near the window. He stared at her for a brief moment before closing the door and making his way over to her
“I was thinking the same thing,” he murmured, never taking his eyes off her as he stepped forward.
He wasn’t much for big gestures but she deserved it, this was the right time. He was sure.
“Y/N...”
She had no choice but to put her attention back to him. She wasn’t all too sure what was going on, but she had a feeling he had plenty to say as he took her hands in his. Needing her to feel the anxiousness he was feeling as he did his best to word all he wanted to tell her that moment.
“You’ve made me feel things that I didn’t know existed outside of movies and the songs we listen to. And I’ve realized that I don’t want to live without you. It doesn’t matter to me if we spend forever or just the rest of my life together. All I care about is that we spend our time protecting each other, taking care of each other and making the most of what we have together. Because you’re it for me baby. You’re the love of my life.”
Y/N reached up to cup his cheek with a warm smile and glassy eyes.
“And you’re mine,” she sighed.
Ian closed his eyes and succumbed to her touch, turning his head a bit so that he could kiss the palm of her hand. He laced it up with his and brought it down with him as he got down on one knee. He took a deep breath and looked up at her with his own vision starting to blur somewhat with tears. But he could still see the way she placed her free hand over her mouth in an attempt to repress all the emotions that wanted to come out at once.
“Y/N,” he began with an unsteady voice. “Will you marry me?”
With all the enthusiasm she had, she nodded her head.
“Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you!”
Once he was back on his feet, she jumped into his arms and held on tight. He hugged her back with a similar amount of desperate strength and added in a fierce kiss that gained a bit of saltiness from their tears. With some reluctance, he broke apart from her when he remembered something.
“Fuck. I forgot the ring.” He said, fishing for the small, velvet box in his pocket. He took it out and opened it up to present the ring to her before placing it on her finger.
She marveled at the sparkling beauty of the diamond, tracing the delicate band and cut.
They shared another loving embrace after, as if holding onto one another would keep them safe and sheltered for as long as they lived.

They didn’t know what their next move could be after they left Raymond’s place, and all remained silent as they went back to Y/N’s apartment with more than millions of thoughts swimming in each of their heads. Once they got there, they each went about the place like mindless drones, still not one of them saying a word. With Peter being the most active on autopilot, he scurried over to the kitchen and looked through the fridge and cupboards. Luckily he was able to find some things to help keep him occupied for the time being.
Cooking had always been a way for him to cope with tension-filled situations since it was something that kept him busy and his mind at ease. Which was why not long after, when the place began to produce a sweet smelling aroma from the desserts being made, he had a moment where he was feeling a form of contentment. That was until reality came back in the form of Adam.
“What are you doing?” He had asked, looking around the kitchen and witnessing the various ingredients and plates of snacks already made.
“Thought I’d make a little something for Ian,” Peter said. “I’m sure he hasn’t eaten anything since...all this.”
“It looks like a bakery in here, Peter,”
“Well maybe he’s one of those zombies that stress eats!”
Peter let out a sudden, irritated huff and put down the mixing bowl he had been stirring on the counter. It was harsher than intended, with some of the batter jumping out. The two stood there in awkward silence after his outburst, waiting for one of them to at least remotely address the situation they were in.
“Where’s Eve?” Peter asked.
“In the bedroom, having a bit of a row with Ava,”
“What are they arguing about?”
“Eve’s trying to push her into trying to remember whatever can be useful in finding Y/N. While also chastising her over her taste in men,” Adam explained, a ghost of an amused smirk appearing. “Where’s Rowan?”
“In one of the other rooms, talking to a neighbor of ours that’s watching over the pups while we’re gone,”
Neither had asked about the whereabouts of Ian, having seen him go straight up to the roof while mumbling about having a smoke. So seeing no other way to beat around the bush, the younger brother had decided to express what had been on his mind for some time now.
“Do you remember the first person from our past life that we saw die?” He inquired, almost expecting Adam to not answer. “After we’d been around for a good while?”
“Henry,” Adam responded with.
Peter confirmed with a quiet nod. Their parents had died long before their brother did, but they didn’t include them since they each passed away about five years or so after the three siblings were turned. Although they didn’t attend either of their funerals, it wouldn’t have raised too much suspicion if they had. With Henry, however, it was already a good 40+ years when they caught wind of his nearing death and decided to pay him a visit. Funny enough, it was Y/N that had insisted on going to see him.
“He was just a senile old man on his deathbed,” Peter recalled, sounding so far away. “Didn’t even bat an eye to us looking the way we did.”
He gave a bitter and tight-lipped smile as he remembered the final moments they each shared with their late brother; taking a withered hand and smiling down at him on the raised bed. He had managed to raise his tired eyes that could only widen slightly from seeing his estranged siblings.
“Sweet sister, you’ve grown to be quite the beauty,” he had expressed in a croaking version of his younger voice.
“Adam, you’re due for a shave...Ah, little Peter...I use that term ironically now,”
They had let him spew out tales from their childhood and young adulthood. Peter shook his head a bit when remembering the way Henry had babbled in an almost child-like way, giving his spin on the way he tormented the family growing up. He had always been the one that was more of a bully with the way he “playfully” picked on everyone.
“He was such an asshole,” Peter remarked. “Probably the biggest one when we were kids. But I was still sad to see him go.”
Adam heard the sadness in his voice. He knew he didn’t like to talk about their past lives very often since there weren’t much fond memories to look back on. So it was rare for them to talk about the family that had been dead and gone for centuries now.
“Y/N has always been the good one,” Peter went on to say, appearing to be quite spaced out. “Since the day she was born, she had been so sweet. I don’t know where she could’ve gotten it from. The rest of us were full of such meanness and resentment.”
“You, at least, had a reason to be bitter,” Adam brought up lamely.
But he was able to see what he meant. Y/N was always someone with a kind heart; an open-minded free spirit that always had at least an ounce of empathy for people. It didn’t matter who you were, she would do what she could to understand you and the things you did. It’s why even when they struggled with seeing eye-to-eye about certain things, they always had been able to confide in her when it came to their deepest emotional thoughts. Whether it be Peter talking to her about his sexuality for the first time, or her helping Adam be momentarily distracted from his darkening thoughts, she was always the light of the family.
“I just keep thinking,” Peter suddenly choked out. “What’s going to happen if we can’t...how we’d react if she-”
“Oi, don’t think something like that for even a second! We’re not going to let that bastard get the best of us.”
“Adam, face facts! He’s got her locked up somewhere and is most likely torturing her every time one toe is out of place. He’s already winning!”
“He isn’t winning!” Adam argued, his voice rising. “The only way he will is if we continue with all this negative thinking. And since that’s coming from me, that should tell you plenty about how much you need to lighten the fuck up.”
The tension grew after that outburst, as though that were possible. Anyone else would’ve been shocked or hurt by the way his stoic demeanor broke so harshly, but Peter only rolled his eyes and shook his head.
“I just don’t see how we’ll be able to get her back,”
“There might be a way,” Eve called out.
They turned and found her standing in front of them with a sulking Ava by her side.
“Ava has something she needs to say,”
“If it’s an apology, I’m not really in the mood for it,” Adam grumbled. Peter just resumed stirring his mix. It’s not that they blamed her for this situation, but they’d be lying if they said that they weren’t more than a little upset with her for bringing Raymond back into their lives. Despite multiple warnings to do otherwise.
“I don’t know where Raymond’s keeping Y/N,” Ava started with. “But I know someone that might,”
That drew their attention back.
----
Everyone had gathered into the living room to hear what Ava had to say.
“A couple days ago before this all happened, Raymond had gone to see Victor,”
“Victor?” Adam inquired. “Are you sure?”
“The guy’s been living in the same place in Brooklyn for over 70 years. I’m sure. I don’t know what he asked from him since I was left in the car while he went inside, but I’m certain whatever it was helped with getting Y/N to wherever she is now.”
“Wait, who’s Victor?” Ian asked.
“He’s someone like us that has been known to get things,” Peter told him. “There’s hardly anything he can’t get his hands on. Especially for the right price.” He threw a question of his own to the rest of the group. “But you don’t suppose he’d actually do business with Raymond, do you?”
“Only if he wasn’t told everything,” Adam stated. “You know Victor, he doesn’t ask a lot of questions if you flash enough cash his way to keep his mouth shut. He probably doesn’t even know about Y/N.”
“Most likely not. He wouldn’t have sold anything to the asshole if he did.”
“So what now?” Rowan asked next. “Do we just go over to Victor’s and ask him what he may or may not know?”
“It’s better than doing nothing,” Adam reasoned. “If anything, we can go over and see what he has in stock that might help somehow.”
He took a glance at the window, estimating how much was left of the night. “I’ll go there myself, but the rest of you should get some sleep,”
“No, I’m going too,” Peter claimed.
“Are you sure?”
He stepped over to him, a sheepish smile forming on his face. “You were right before. We’re not going to let him get the best of us. We’re going to get her back.”
Adam didn’t say anything except nod in agreement. But then he was spun around by Eve who gave him a worried expression.
“Adam-”
“There’s no sense in all of us going,” he interrupted her with his explanation while giving pleading eyes of his own. “I don’t know what kind of information will be handed to us, or what situation we’ll be landing ourselves in. But I’ll contact you as soon as I can. Just stay here, please?”
“The things I do for you,” she uttered in return. They then shared a good, loving kiss.
“Hopefully we’ll be back in a night or so,” Peter meanwhile assured his own love. “And if things go well, Y/N will be with us too.”
“I’ll try my best to not worry,” Rowan could only half-joke about that. “And I’ll keep you updated about the babies while you’re away.”
“Thank you,”
“I’m going too,” Ian piped up, getting up from the couch.
“Ian, it’s probably best that you stay here-”
“Yeah, no offense Adam, but I wasn’t asking permission,”
That definitely caught everyone off guard.
“Look, I know you guys are way smarter and stronger than I am -- and there’s still a lot I don’t know about your kind -- but I can still be useful. I want to be, anyway. Because she’s my girl, I want to do what I can to save her.”
Adam peered over to Peter who just shrugged and gave him a look that said it was his call. He went back to look at Ian.
“All right, but stay close. I’m sure Victor will be able to supply you with a gun, if needed. You ever use one?”
“Does a paintball gun count?”
“Sure,” Peter answered him with that same weak smile on his face. “We should probably get going before it gets light out.” He returned to Rowan and shared a few more parting words.
Ian stood off to the side as he watched Adam and Peter share goodbyes with their partners. He did his best to ignore the twinge in his heart that came from doing so while also doing what he could to avoid the wandering thought of how he should’ve done better in savoring the last moment he shared with Y/N...
----
Y/N ran her fingers through Ian’s hair while his face stayed hidden in her neck. With his weight on her, she could easily feel his thundering heart as he continued to catch his breath. She started giggling when he lightly rubbed his nose against her cheek. She had no choice but to turn and share several lazy kisses with him. They broke apart eventually, going on to look at each other with hooded eyes and sated smiles.
“That was amazing,” he whispered, still a little out of breath.
“You always say that,” she teased, sliding her arms further down to hug him closer to her.
“That’s because it’s always amazing,”
He gave her one more kiss then rolled off her to go on his side of the bed. They had spent majority of that night between the sheets, only taking breaks every so often to wash themselves off, share a smoke, cuddle or let him recharge with some food. They made love through the dark hours until the transition of the first morning lights when slept it all off.
Had he known that that would’ve possibly been the last time, he would’ve made more of an effort to memorize her movement, the noises she made. He would’ve stayed up a little longer to watch the peaceful way she slept, the cute way her face would subtly twitch from the dreams she had. Had he known what was to come, he would’ve tried harder to keep them in bed.
----
Adam glanced up towards the rearview mirror and caught sight of Ian in the backseat, still lost in thought since leaving the apartment. Did he even realize they had left? When he turned to look at Peter in the passenger seat, he saw that he was checking on him too. They shared a look with each other afterwards, seeming to be thinking the same thing.
It was usually smarter for their kind to not get too close to many people, safer. But the ones they did have in their lives were always going to be the ones they stayed loyal to and kept safe. The brothers might’ve failed in keeping Y/N away from Raymond’s clutches, but they were going to do everything in their power to get her back. And they were also going to do what they could to make sure Ian was well taken care of. They knew she would’ve done the same if it was Eve or Rowan in his position.
So they made a silent agreement on the way that no matter what happened, he would be protected and come back in one piece.
34, this is my last one. I know you have a wonderful vision for 34, I have a feeling!
Returned from the dead kiss
I got a wee bit carried away with this one...
“Y/N, how long was I...did I...was I dead?”
She nodded, her eyes screwed shut at remembering the events from several days ago. Recalling the way that mugger stabbed Ian while they were out and left them with her cradling him in her arms as he bled. She had been so desperate.
“Rowan said it was quite the miracle, seeing that you had lost a lot of blood,”
His eyes widened at that, putting the pieces together. For some confirmation, he ran his tongue over his teeth, wincing at the way it stung from poking the fangs he now possessed.
“Did you-?”
“I had to,” she whimpered, cupping his face so she could stare into his newly colored eyes. “I couldn’t let you die. Not like that.”
“But baby, you could’ve died saving me,” he pointed out, his pain and numerous questions being forgotten at the moment to worry about her. “Are you okay?”
“I’m all right. I was a little queasy afterwards, but it wasn’t anything that a glass of O Negative couldn’t fix. Speaking of which...”
She pulled away and made her way to the couch she had been resting on for the last few days, bringing out a flask that he instantly eyed.
“Lie back down, my love,” she instructed.
Swallowing hard out of eagerness and what he now realized was a strong, inhuman hunger, he did what he was told and waited with great anticipation, especially when the powerful scent of the blood overwhelmed his senses once she uncorked it. Gently, she lifted his head up and slowly tilted the flask so the liquid could pour down his throat without any issue. A moan escaped from him as he drank, feeling a sudden rush and warmth that somehow was too overwhelming but also something he couldn’t get enough of. Y/N giggled at the protesting whine he let out as she pulled the flask away shortly after.
“Don’t be greedy,” she teased, cupping his face again. “It feels good though, doesn’t it?”
He only nodded with his eyes closed, letting the high he felt settle within him. Eventually his eyes opened up again, now drinking in the sight of his love who was still above him. He never realized how beautiful she really was, being able to spot new details on her, have his nose be blessed by her sweet, natural scent. She seemed to be having similar thoughts about him since her eyes lit up as they roamed over his body. She leaned forward, meeting him halfway in a strong kiss.
Their tongues tangled during their passionate embrace, having her whimper at the lingering taste of the blood he drank. He sat up properly and pulled her to his lap, then having his hands roam around her soft skin that gave him tingles with each touch and made him groan from the sensation. Desperate to sate another great urge.
The ecstasy they had become lost in, however, prevented them from hearing the door bang open behind them until it was too late.
#30- Kiss under the full moon Any story with that is just so romantic 😍🌙🌕
Kiss under a full moon
It was another last night together before she had to return back to New York. He thought he’d be used to it by now. He wanted to be since he was told that it was normal for her kind to go off and tend to her own matters every once in a while. But he couldn’t stop the involuntary ache he felt in his chest after she told him.
“Do you really have to go?” He mumbled while they walked together hand-in-hand through the desolate streets of Detroit.
She looked over at him with her own saddened heart, but was still able to place a faint smile to her face.
“I’ll be back in a month or so,” she assured. “I need to tend to the shop. Why don’t you come with me?”
“I can’t. Remember, Adam has that new music project and is going to need me to help out with getting special equipment for it.”
She let out a huff. It was moments like this that reminded both of them of how limited their time was overall. They knew what they were getting themselves into after they got more serious and he learned more about her kind, but that didn’t mean it still didn’t hurt whenever something came to visibly wedge them apart.
He stopped their tracks so he can be the one to give a look this time.
“Hey. What’s wrong?”
She shook her head and ran a hand to her face to help cover her tears.
“A part of me is still tempted to let you go and let you find a nice, normal girl,” she confessed in a whisper. “One who isn’t so much trouble and can give you all the things you want.”
“Babe...”
He wrapped his arms around her and held her tight the way he always did.
“In a perfect world, I’d be having all the nice things with you that a lot of couples want like romantic dinner dates, kids, grandkids. But love is supposed to be about making an effort and putting hard work into something that doesn’t make it all seem like work. And finding ways to meet each other in the middle when things get too hard. I think we’ve been able to do a good job of that so far. All being with you does is just makes me realize how precious our time together is and what I’m willing to do to keep you by my side.”
He grazed the side of her face with a finger, making her close her eyes at his gentle touch.
“It’s like falling in love with you all over again,”
At that, she had no choice but to grab a hold of his face and plant a firm kiss on his lips. He kissed her back no problem, pressing her even closer to him as she went on to savor more of the devotion they had for one another.
Yet another piece of fanfiction that is dedicated to @ladyfluff, especially since I have a few OCs on here that she had created. Give her a follow if you haven’t already to see more of them because they’re the kind of OCs that like to pop up every now and again on her tumblr. Also FAIR WARNING: this oneshot will contain some dark themes to it such as kidnapping, torture, and all that good stuff! You have been warned...
Enjoy the read!
There was no stopping Adam as he swung open the door hard enough to take it off its hinges. He charged over to Raymond sitting in the den and used more of his inhuman strength to lift him off the couch and hold him by the front of his shirt. Everyone else trailed behind not soon after and barely even put a stop to the antics.
“Where is she?!” Adam spat out, his eyes lit up with malice.
“Won’t you come in?” Raymond said with that sneering grin that made you want to punch him in the face.
“Cut the shit!” Peter hissed while standing on Adam’s left. “Where’s our sister?!”
No one had been able to reach Y/N for a little over two weeks. It wasn’t like her to go off the grid for too long, not even when she was busy working on one of her art projects or on the hunt for another addition to her antique collection. She always took the time to give one of them a call and even update them with her progress. Everyone’s concerns were confirmed after they all decided to check for her at her apartment and found her gone. The worry grew only worse when Ava spoke up about what Raymond had been spewing out since he came back into their lives, and how he was ready to give Y/N what she had coming to her.
“Ava told us everything,” Eve explained coldly on Adam’s right. “So don’t bother lying your way out of this.”
Raymond had the nerve to throw his head back and let out a mocking laugh before looking over to Ava, who was peeking from behind Eve’s shoulder like a frightened child seeking solace in their parent’s arms.
She knew this was her fault for bringing him back into the picture. She had heard all the stories about him throughout the several decades he had been around, but she saw it all as more adventurous and exciting than terrifying. She fell for Raymond’s charm and bloodlust; his goal of making every night a party for their kind. Him being Y/N’s ex was just a bonus since they never really got along all that well, and she enjoyed doing what she could to annoy her.
But this trumped their rivalry and whatever Bonnie and Clyde type romance she thought she could have with him. Now it seemed like lives could be at stake because she refused to see what he really was: a monster.
“Oh I sincerely doubt she told you what I have been up to,” Raymond said, pulling himself out of Adam’s grip. “Because she still thought that all this was just another attempt to get Y/N back when she left to warn you guys. And I’ll admit, I did make a final attempt to win her over when I had stopped by to see her. But it really seems like she’s taken by the new pet she has...”
He peered over to Ian standing behind everyone else and giving him an equally cold stare.
“I thought about killing her,” Raymond admitted. “But that seemed too good for her. Even if I took my time with it. So, I decided to give her a taste of her own medicine.”
The group were all paler than usual, but each pair of eyes were still slits of fury and disdain.
“What the hell does that mean?” Ian asked sharply.
Raymond looked at him with an out-of-place casual smile.
“Have any of you ever browsed online before? I myself thought the internet was a bit of nonsense. Another waste of time these modern zombies created. That was until I found certain sites that only a few can stumble upon when you know the way to access it all.”
He kept his voice in an eerily calm level and still went on smiling serenely.
“One particular website I found was host to a lot of eccentric rich folk. People who were actually willing to pay millions - even billions - for items that are otherworldly or supernatural. Imagine my surprise when I also saw that even creatures could be up for sale. Entities...supernatural beings. Like us.”
“Oh no...” Rowan mumbled.
“You should have seen the bidding war there was over her-”
There was another violent lunge for Raymond, but from Ian this time. He bellowed out a growl-like yell when he almost knocked over everyone to attack him. He got a few hits before he was pulled back by Peter and Rowan. His face was red with fury, and his hair was disheveled. Angry tears spilled out his eyes.
“I’ll kill you!” He shouted. “I’ll fucking kill you!”
“Where is she?” Eve asked, doing her best to keep her own composure steady. “Who did you sell her to?”
“Now, now, she hasn’t been shipped off just yet,” Raymond stated with mock assurance. “Her buyer is some rich widower from the U.K. He’s planning on picking her up and flying back home with her. He should be here in about 2-3 days. Until then, I’m keeping her in a safe place that is on a need-to-know basis for those I do business with. So maybe there’s something better you can offer me for he-”
“This is Y/N we’re talking about, not some item you’re auctioning off of eBay!” Peter exclaimed fiercely. “We are not negotiating or offering anything!”
“Give her back to us!” Adam threatened with a menacing step toward Raymond. “Or else-”
But suddenly, Raymond took out a small remote and immediately pressed a button on it. Not long after, there was a terrible and drawn-out shriek in the room. Everyone looked around the small apartment until Rowan pointed at the cell phone they were all too distracted to have noticed on the couch. With it being on speaker, they all heard Y/N’s pained screams go on as they all began to panic.
“Y/N!”
“Stop it!”
“What are you doing?!”
“Stop!”
Raymond eventually pressed another button on the remote that seemed to put a stop to whatever it was that caused her screams since there was no longer any noise from her end but small pants and whimpers.
“What did you do to her?!” Adam screeched, tears of his own wanting to come out.
Raymond lifted up the remote and looked at it with pride.
“Oh that was courtesy of another neat little thing I found on the web. This baby controls something Y/N has around her neck at the moment. Kinda like one of those shock collars people have their pets wear when they want them to behave.”
Everyone’s eyes widened with fear and surprise, with some even looking like they might be sick. But he just continued to look smug and even had his thumb graze over some of the buttons on the remote.
“This one’s a little more intense. It even has levels! So far, it seems like it’s doing a great job keeping you all in line.” He gave each and every one of them a hard glare. “And you’re all going to stay in line by either scrounging up more than $7 million in three days, or just butt out and let me get the money that’s already guaranteed to come my way. Try anything else, I’ll be sure to crank this all the way up to 11! Then we’ll see what I can do with whatever is left of her.”
They all remained quiet and each felt a good amount of helplessness. What was there to do now that there hands were tied? They needed time to figure out what their next move needed to be. They just hoped Y/N wasn’t gone by the time they came up with a plan.
“Let us talk to her,” Adam demanded softly. “We, at least, deserve to know that she’s safe, for now.”
Raymond gave some thought to the request before deciding to hand over the phone to Adam.
“No tricks,” he said, raising the remote once more.
The group crowded around Adam once he grabbed the phone and called out to his sister in a shaky voice.
“Y/N?”
“Adam?!” They heard her croak out. It was heartbreaking to hear her wheeze. “Adam, I don’t know where I am. I don’t know where he’s taken me! I’m in some sort of basement, but that’s all I know. I’m so scared...”
Adam glanced at Raymond on the couch, but he just looked bored and tapped his fingers against his cheek with impatience. He reverted his attention back to Y/N. Eve did all she could to rub out the tension he was feeling.
“It’s going to be fine, Y/N. You’re going to be okay. I promise, we’re going to do all we can to save you. You just keep hanging on and be the strong person we all know you to be.”
He had to stop to swallow the lump forming in his throat.
“Are all of you there?” Y/N asked.
Peter took the phone from his brother’s trembling hands to answer. “Yeah, Y/N. We’re all here. You’re on speaker, so we can all hear you.”
“Hi everyone. Sorry if I had you all worried...”
Peter couldn’t help but let out a choked-up laugh. “It’s what you’re good at, I suppose. Even when we were growing up, you were always the one that had the habit of wandering off into the woods.”
“Just wanted to see those witches mother would always prattle on about for myself,”
Peter pressed his lips together and shut his eyes tight, doing all he could to keep it together.
“Is Ian there as well?” Y/N asked next.
“Yeah, baby, I’m here,” Ian answered immediately. He grabbed the phone from Peter, who was now being held by his husband.
“Is it all right if I speak with you, in private?”
Ian looked at Raymond to see if this was okay. He gained some agitation, but he only rolled his eyes and gestured towards the bedroom nearby.
“Make it quick,” he ordered. “Leave the door open, and keep it on speaker.”
Ian walked the several feet away and sat down on the bed while listening to her voice, despite the fact that it pained him with the way it sounded so hoarse and strained.
“I don’t know how much time he’s given you, but I wanted to tell you a few important things in case-”
“Y/N, please don’t,” he interrupted her with a small cry. “Please don’t act like this is the last time we’re going to talk to each other. You’re going to be okay. We’re going to find you.”
“I know, I know, but with the chance that something does happen to me-”
“I can’t!” Ian exclaimed tearfully. He couldn’t let this be the end for them. He needed her by his side; to take care of her, and love and admire her the way he always did. His eyes were clamped shut as though he was afraid this all wasn’t just a terrible nightmare he could easily wake up from. He needed to pretend for at least a moment that he’d open his eyes and find himself in her apartment where he would get out of bed to follow the scent of the late night breakfast she would be cooking for him while wearing one of his shirts.
“I don’t want this to be the last time I hear your voice,” he proclaimed. “I know there’s a lot we can’t do together, but there’s also a lot we can still do that we haven’t done yet!” He struggled a somewhat to catch his breath. “We still need to move in together, and travel, and make music.” He huffed and drew a sad smile on his face. “I was even thinking that we could get a dog. You like dogs, right?”
She gave out a broken giggle. “I love dogs. What do you think about getting a labradoodle?”
“Yeah, that sounds good. It’ll have a lot of hair, like me.”
“You know how much I love your hair,”
They shared a soft laugh and had some momentary relief from the dire situation.
“I want to do all those things with you, baby. And so much more,” he whispered, not trusting himself to have his voice break. He needed to be strong for the two of them. He couldn’t let her know how scared he truly was. “Please try to hold on until we find you. Promise me you will. And if you get a chance to escape, you tak-”
“All right, Romeo. That’s enough.”
Ian didn’t care anymore about making a scene once Raymond came into the room to snatch the phone away. He pleaded with a whimper for him to have another minute with her. He needed her to be okay. Last thing he heard was her panicked voice calling for him before Raymond ended the call. The love and worry he was carrying for her was now replaced with a rage and hatred for the man in front of him that was giving him a hateful scowl of his own.
“Pathetic,” Raymond scoffed. “Of all the people she could’ve replaced me with, she decided to go for you.”
Ian didn’t bother responding, only sinking to his knees due to his legs feeling too much like jelly. He was shaking from head to toe and ached as his breathing came out like there were painful stabs to his chest. He could only imagine that Y/N was in a much worse state. Because right now he didn’t care about living or dying. Only that the pain would stop.

Some centuries ago...
Peter glanced up at the entrance to the tavern when hearing it be opened so abruptly. He gave the small hooded figure that came in some mild interest before he went back to wiping down the bar. With a book clutched in their hands, the figure took in their surroundings for a few moments until taking light, quick strides to where Peter was and sat down.
“Ale, please,” they requested in a low tone.
Peter almost didn’t hear them since their head was bowed as well. He poured out a glass of the drink they asked for, slid it over, and then returned to his previous actions.
“Did father bring home another suitor for you?” he asked, not even bothering to glance up.
“This one is, at least, closer to my age,” the figure said, opening up their book. “By ten years.”
Chuckling, Peter looked up in time to catch his baby sister twist her lips with contempt.
“You know, you and Adam have the same disgusted scowl,” he chuckled once more when she sent a serious stare his direction. He raised his hands up in mock surrender. “Looks better on you, though.”
Y/N gave a small laugh of her own in spite of herself; Peter always had the ability to make her smile. She missed his presence at home. He was protective of her the way Adam was, sure, but he showed more leniency with the decisions she made and just cared more about her happiness. He was supportive with everything she did, and always by her side when she wanted to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow, ride a horse, or anything else that wasn’t considered “lady-like.” And while Adam was the one she enjoyed spending the quiet with, Peter was the one she loved going to to share witty banter and gossip.
“Speaking of Adam,” Peter continued. “Is he doing all he can to keep them busy?”
“As we speak,” Y/N answered, taking a swig of her drink afterwards. “He should be arriving before sunset to take me home, if things go according to plan.” She took another generous sip of her ale and sighed. “But I don’t know...I feel this is all becoming too much. Perhaps I should consider meeting with one of-”
“Y/N,” Peter interrupted, now watching her with a solemn look. “You can’t be serious.”
She swirled the last of her drink around the glass and shrugged. “It’s just a thought I’ve been having lately.” She peered up at him. “You’ve seemed to have made the most out of your marriage. Perhaps I can do the same.”
“It’s different with me, you know that. The second you’re married off, it’ll be the end of any remaining freedom you can have.”
She knew he was right. Although Peter couldn’t openly be with who he truly loved, he still had a good say in where he went and what he did while his wife Mary stayed at home and patiently waited for him. That could easily be Y/N’s fate as well: a dutiful life of slaving away and waiting for her husband that was off doing God knows what, along with tending to their children. Some of the girls she knew from town had been wed by their late teens, then had their second or third child on the way by the time they were in their twenties. Her father was growing more insistent in having her be married off since she was already reaching her mid-twenties.
She managed to distance herself from the girls she knew, and did her best to evade the path that was made for her since she first bled. Though as much as she craved for excitement and change in lieu of the infinite security a woman was promised in exchange for their hand, that idea constantly fell on deaf ears. It was all becoming too much of an effort to find a way to explore any other possibilities the same way her brothers tried to. Surely there had to be more people who shared similar viewpoints.
Y/N drained the last of her ale and had Peter fill up her glass again. “I just wish you and Adam didn’t have to go through so much trouble for me, as well. This is my issue alone. I must learn to make peace with what I have.”
Peter gave a long, weary sigh of his own. He reached over to place his hand over hers and give her a soft, sincere smile.
“We do it because we love you,” he told her honestly, giving her hand a squeeze. “You know that. You are a good person with a good heart. No man should take advantage of your kind and clever nature if he isn’t worthy of you. You deserve much more than what you can settle for.”
Once again, he had no trouble getting her to perk up.
“Have you...also thought more about my offer?”
Peter now spoke of the job offer he gave her last week to help him tend the tavern. He told her that Herman was always in need for an extra set of hands to help run the place, especially lately since he was still recovering from a bad illness.
“Are you sure Herman wouldn’t mind my working here?”
“Absolutely! That bum is always asking for some help around here. There’s even an extra room upstairs you can stay in. It may not be the most exciting job, but it pays well enough for you to get by. And there’s always plenty of interesting folk that stop by, though there might be some that will grab at you. You remember some of the tricks I’ve taught you, correct?”
“Avoid aiming for the chest and knees - go for the nose, underneath the chin, or the jugular instead,” she remembered. “Strike with the heel of my palm or elbow with a full and quick force since a strong recoil of my attack will keep them staggering long enough for me to escape.”
His smile morphed into a proud little smirk as he raised a small glass of wine that he poured for himself to her. “I’ve taught you well,”
The siblings clinked their drinks together and switched the conversation to lighter topics. The afternoon soon grew to early evening, and Y/N’s inhibitions began to slowly drop once she was halfway done with her third ale. Her giggles were a little more random and audible; Peter having the need to shush her every time she got too loud and might bring unwanted attention. It was when he leaned over to help her stay steady as she swayed a bit in her seat that her book slipped and fell to the floor instead.
“Oops,” she squeaked.
She reached down to pick it up when her head met with someone else’s in a harsh THUD! She winced from the pain and did her best to massage it away (Peter snorted behind his hand from watching the scene). Once she properly stood up again and opened her eyes, she froze from seeing who stood before her.
Standing in front of her was a young man that looked to be around her age and rubbing his own head. He was pale with bright, blue eyes and dark, brown curls. When looking at him, the first word that came to her mind was “cherub.” Especially when a light blush rose to his cheeks after they locked eyes.
“F-Forgive me, miss,” he stammered out. “I was just trying to pick up that book of yours for you. Didn’t mean to bump into you.”
Y/N shook herself out of her daze and gave him a sweet smile.
“That’s quite all right darling,” she giggled. “I should’ve been smarter with where I put it.”
“I-I’m sure you’re very bright. Judging by how large the book is, anyway. Looks as though it contains words I don’t even know.”
In an instant, she knew he was different from all the other men who’d talk to her. From his not seeming to care about her being a woman alone in the tavern, to his praising her assumed intelligence instead of her looks. Peter, sensing the connection forming, made his way down to talk to another patron with a cheeky smile on his lips.
“Do you enjoy reading?” Y/N asked the boy.
“Um, I’m not very good at it, I’m afraid,”
“Well, perhaps I can teach yo-”
“Y/N!”
At the sound of her name, Y/N turned towards the entrance and had her grin quickly vanish from her face. Adam had sheepishly came in as he trailed behind their fuming father. The place went silent when the two men came in, with even Peter feeling like a cowering child despite his height and built. Their father’s rage always seemed to have that kind of effect on them.
“P-Papa,” Y/N muttered.
“So it’s true then!” The older man barked, marching across the tavern to yank his daughter towards him. “Here you are!”
“Father, it was my fault,” Peter defended. “She was in the village picking out ingredients to take home for supper, and I had invited her in for a small visi-”
“You hold your tongue!” Their father snapped at him with an accusatory finger. “I know exactly what she’s been up to!” He then pointed back to Y/N while the daggers in his glare sharpened. “You are coming home this instant!”
His voice was beginning to rise a bit. She knew that he was more upset than he wanted to let on, but he’d rather save the verbal lashing for when they got home. She let out a pained squeak from the tightening grip he placed on her wrist...
----
Y/N drew out a sharp intake of breath as though she was being brought back to life. Her chest heaved, and she looked around the room with eyes rapidly opening and shutting. Though it had little to no effect on the darkness of where she was.
It had been several days since she was brought here. Weeks even. The only time she was able to place a date to a day was when she had talked to her family on the dying, disposable phone that Raymond gave her. Before it had died on her shortly after; before she could even think about reaching out for help once more on it. Though what was she exactly going to say to 911, especially since she didn’t even know where she was?
With a miserable amount of effort, she made another attempt to pull at the chain around her ankle before pulling at the collar around her neck. Needless to say, it was no use; the combined rage and fear that had bubbled up inside her previously had been washed away and replaced with hunger and hopelessness. She was at that dangerous level of starvation, feeling as though her mind was slipping away from her. The dreams had become a regular occurrence and grew more vivid with each moment she rested her eyes. She supposed it must’ve tied into that old saying of your life flashing before your eyes when you’re nearing death since she’d see bits and pieces of it all:
She saw the meadow her and her brothers played in when they were children, smell the flowers she’d pick, almost taste a stew she had helped her mother make for dinner, hear the constant commotion that went on in that little cabin she used to live in with her family. She would hear the music she’d listen to from each era she lived in, revisit the places she had collected her antique pieces from. She’d see the people she once knew die before her eyes, and experience once again the moments she’d been glad to share with the ones who’d been there for her for over 500 years.
When her thoughts and dreams would come across Ian, she would feel a great amount of pain as she wondered where he was, what he was doing, and if she would ever see him again. But the interspersed visions of her old life seemed to have now mixed with the current life she shared with her human love. She could recall that time at the tavern Peter used to work at, and the lashing she received from her father after she’d been caught. And she also remembered meeting the boy that was there, but surely it couldn’t have been-
Y/N flinched hearing thumps above her head that stopped and was soon replaced by the sound of the basement door opening. The footsteps were now more clear as they made their way down to her. She still felt exhausted and dizzy, but she did what she could to sit up and shake some of the hair from her eyes.
“Aw, baby doll, you look so cute when you’ve just woken up,” she heard Raymond coo. Through the darkness, she saw him reach out to her, squatting down to her level and tap her nose while beaming. “If you were human, I would eat you right up.”
Y/N only gave him a silent glare in return. His playfulness was put on pause when he presented her with a small cup that was filled up with blood. She eyed it hungrily, but then set her sights back on him with suspicion joining her weary and hateful stare.
He tsked at this. “Now don’t you think if I wanted you dead, I would have done it the moment I walked into your apartment?”
He wishes for me to suffer. She deduced in her head. If he wished for my death, it’d be a slow and painful one. Tainted blood can do just that.
Though as she ran her tongue over dried, cracked lips, her hunger decided to choose this hypothetical way to go and took hold of the cup with both hands. She gulped down the blood eagerly, it going down her throat with a pleasant burn to it like a warm bowl of soup. She became more at ease, soon no longer feeling any pain. It almost felt like she was in her own little world, like she was floating away from it all.
The rush had her heal up, with her throat slowly becoming less sore from the aches she gained from shocks and tortured screams. Her voice only being somewhat raspy from not talking for quite some time.
“My family...” she croaked. “Where are they?”
“Still in New York, from what I gathered,” he told her, letting out an irked huff. “Your brothers are still as meddlesome as ever.”
“Shouldn’t have kidnapped their little sister then if you didn’t wish for them to interfere,”
He smiled once more. “Oh, don’t worry. I want them to be involved in this as you are. They have reasons of their own on why they should suffer. From the first day we met, they always thought themselves better than me. Even when I was turned, they always found something about me to look down on.”
“Well, you shouldn’t have made it so easy for them to do so,” she heard herself say.
The sudden scowl on his face made her realize that was a stupid thing to say and had him remind her of the situation she was trapped in. The agonizing jolts of electricity she had grown familiar with took hold of her and had her writhing on the floor while gritting her teeth to keep her from releasing a pained shriek. When it all eventually subsided, she was left with feeling as though her bones would break and her head would explode. She hoped that if that happened, it would be quick.
He grabbed a hold of her; taking her from beneath her jaw and holding her head still. Looking at him up close - staring at those hardened eyes that were also so vain and cruel - she wondered how she could have ever thought she could love him.
“Your pain and humiliation will have them suffering just as much as you,” he hissed with his face uncomfortably close to hers. “With all of you begging me, the one person you all thought so little of, to put an end to it all.”
He didn’t force a kiss on her like she almost expected him to do, only letting her go of her face with such disdain and disgust like she was some contagious thing he needed to stay away from. It might’ve been the haziness she felt after the shocks, but when she glanced up at him, she saw no true expression on him. She knew that despite his cruel ways, he did not truly hate her. And he clearly didn’t love her. He felt nothing for her but a need to control her, it was only now that realized how much control he wanted over her.
After he was gone, she sank back into the concrete floor and stared blankly at the boarded up windows until she bowed her head and succumbed to the tears she had been fighting. She wanted so much to rage out and hurt him the way he’d been hurting her. But overall, she just wished to be home. So she decided to do her best in keeping the promise Ian wanted her to make and stayed brave and fierce, even if she felt the urge to crumble and whimper like a little girl.
And if you get a chance to escape, you take it! She remembered him telling her. Those words replayed in her head after her crying stopped and she looked down to the shards of glass on the ground from the cup Raymond offered her. The one that fell out of her hands after she dropped down from the shocks. The searched until she found one that was long and sharp like a knife.
