Ian Trask, “Young Belichick,” from Strange Histories
Ian Trask was one of the first artists i came across who used corrugated cardboard extensively. The larger fan type objects i think are made from the bendy inner layer, which is not something i’ve looked into yet, and may be a useful material. I also think the cross section pieces relate to what i’m trying to do with my pyramids in some way, though my effect will be more to do with uniformity. It was also interesting to note that Ian Trask comes from a science background, which i suspected due to the nature of the pieces, being quite fractal, and this is somewhat similar to my own approach.

Over seven months, artist Ian Trask collected thousands of molded blister packs destined for the landfill and transformed the plastic into a cross between a temple and tomb of consumerism. Installed at the Invisible Dog in Brooklyn, “Blister Pact“ is a translucent structure that suggests the specters of purchased products in its texture.
