Winter Fest - Victorian Ball
Iann believes velveteen corduroy trousers, satin shirt, heeled boots, and a long coat could conceptually cover ‘Victorian Ball’. Good enough, right?
After all, when attending something alongside party-goers who literally lived through the era, it seemed pointless for a 20th century boy to attempt much authenticity. Just a mild flavour would do.
Post a picture of your muse (younger, current, both) at the height of their socializing or partying days
‘SHOW YOUR TITS,’ some dude demands one Mardi Gras night in New Orleans, circa 2007. Drunk and semi-hostile, Iann and his witch pal Maryana comply:
OK but seriously Iann is like the Benjamin Button of attractiveness. The photo below could only be in the early 2000s when Iann was experimenting with drugs. I mean he’s got the 1980s cocaine ‘tan blazer/t-shirt’ ensemble going on and everything:
If you *absolutely had* to choose a different faceclaim for your character, who would it be?
FC questions always remind me how very little choice there are for actors of colour in general. :’)
If I stayed with a Latino actor, I’d go with Gael García Bernal, although the vibe would be COMPLETELY different. Iann would have to be less gruff and abrupt, more genteel. A pretty softie:
Then there’s the running joke between me & Maggie about the guy we call white!Iann, aka this dude William Mapother. Spotted when watching LOST, he was Ethan Rohm lol! But I mean just LOOK. WHITE!IANN:
But if I’m going purely on personality, I’d cast the wonderful Taika Waititi and only pray that I did him justice. I’d of course change everything about Iann’s background/heritage/ethnicity. Plus Iann would be MORE quirky, if possible. But, aaah:
Post a video that best represents the way your character dances.
I mean Iann knows how to salsa and how to foxtrot (taught to him by his Aunts) but this gif that I hastily made summarizes his ‘I’m just dancing for the sake of dancing’ normal jive!
The Sorting Hat: Ravenclaw Primary, Slytherin Secondary
Ravenclaw Primary:
The gradual editing process of the Ravenclaw’s system as they mature and see more of the world leads to the many different states that are fluid and may often coexist and contain intermediate states.
It’s common for Ravenclaws to care about experiencing the world in its entirety. If you’re working with incomplete information, how can you know that the system you constructed fits the entire world, and not just your own?
There are Ravenclaws whose most important truth is that there is no universal objective truth, but that finding individual, subjective truth is just as important of a goal. You have Ravenclaws who are hugely capable of and demanding of tolerance.
Ravenclaws tend to distrust in their innate, “gut instinct” view on thing, but that doesn’t mean that Ravenclaws don’t have those gut instincts; they just don’t prioritize them.
Slytherin Secondary:
A Slytherin Secondary adapts to the situation, going with the flow and making use of advantages as they come (sometimes leading them to appear lucky where they are actually better described as opportunistic).
This maneuverability adds to the Slytherin reputation for cunning – but from the Slytherin’s perspective, those opportunities were there for other people to see, too, and taking advantage of them is resourceful.
It doesn’t feel deceitful to a Slytherin to change to fit the needs of their environment– to be kind with this person, forceful with this one, erudite to the next. This adaptability can be applied to manipulation, influence, and power, but a Slytherin secondary can just as easily focus their efforts on maintaining friendships, making people happy, encouraging positive social change, or streamlining communication.
Slytherin’s success depends majorly on what problem it is they have to solve. Slytherins make up their plan of attack in the moment. Their actions, visage, and choices are specific to that situation. They are better at some spaces than others, and without input that they can properly react to they will tend to find themselves out of their depths until they can find new inputs.
Soapberry's Met Gala: What look would your character wear? Would they attend by their own choice or forced by another? Would they enjoy the event?
Is it a cop-out answer that Iann would wear exactly what Pedro wore? It’s so perfectly in-character because it’s beige and…honestly Iann would find so many jokes in that I’m not even sure where to start. (blending in/disappearing in the crowd; showing off Collette, the homage to Tuah; etc)
Collette would likely demand they attend together, and Iann would turn it into some sort of work-related opportunity-gathering schtick, so he could justify having fun with Collette or Freddie. He’d people-watch and schmooze with his much more beautifully dressed pals.
He might enjoy it up to a point, but too much pleasant fun socializing gives Iann the sort of anxiousness that makes him get obnoxious. Like he has to ruin pretty things to feel better about it.
That’ll be when he’ll say his goodbyes and hit the local French fry shop to gorge on cheese fries and cheap beer.
