What career did you study? Your job sounds so interesting sigh
I don't actually have a degree in my field; I worked in another professional industry in my early twenties and then decided to make a change into TV. I was one of the very lucky ones who got an initial foot in the door by knowing someone in the industry and then proved myself with hard work and progressed up the food chain.
It might be different story getting into work in television in other countries, but in Australia, unless you want one of the technical roles (camera operator, sound recordist, editor etc), you're much, much better off just going in straight out of highschool and working your way up. Everyone I know who went to university to study media is annoyed at themselves for having wasted the time and money; none of what they learned is relevant to the real world of film and tv, they teach everything on outdated technology and when they graduate, they have to start at the bottom of the food chain anyway. Much better to start at 18 fresh than 22 and in debt already.
Again, this might be totally different in other countries; please no one go dropping out of college because of my Australia-specific advice, yeah?
