Billete de 50 pesos de México gana premio por mejor diseño
La Sociedad Internacional de Billetes de Banco (IBNS) anuncia que sus miembros votantes han seleccionado nuevamente al Banco de México para recibir su prestigioso “Premio al Billete de Banco del Año” anual para 2021.
Con más de 100 billetes nuevos lanzados en todo el mundo durante 2021, solo 20 fueron considerados de diseño suficientemente nuevo para ser miembro nominado.
A diferencia de la mayoría de los años, cuando ha habido un claro favorito desde el principio, la votación entre el primer y el segundo lugar fue cortante hasta el final, cuando el billete de 50 pesos de México superó al billete de 200 dobras de Santo Tomé y Príncipe (el líder de los esclavos, Rei Amador, mariposas, Sunbird y flor).
Hubo un empate real en el tercer lugar entre el billete de 10.000 colones de Costa Rica (abolición del líder del ejército, la selva tropical, la flora y la pereza) y el billete de 50 libras del Banco de Inglaterra (la reina Isabel II con Alan Turing y su computadora descifradora de códigos de guerra).
El diseño continúa resaltando las características históricas y culturales mexicanas
El Banco de México fue nuevamente tanto el impresor como el emisor de este billete de diseño galardonado, que forma parte de la Serie G actual del banco, que se presentó por primera vez en 2018.
El billete de formato vertical está impreso en polímero y muestra a Tenochtitlán, la capital de los aztecas.
La imagen del reverso muestra una salamandra que se encuentra en el ecosistema de lagos y vías fluviales de México.
El diseño continúa resaltando las características históricas y culturales mexicanas con nuevos motivos gráficos.
Producido por el nuevo complejo de impresión del Banco de México ubicado en Jalisco, que comenzó a operar justo antes de la pandemia de coronavirus, el billete ha mejorado significativamente las características de seguridad que coordinan la transición a un sustrato de polímero.
Los billetes de polímero continúan siendo los favoritos de IBNS y ahora son ganadores perennes de premios.

The Obverse side of the note features the portrait of social justice icon Viola Desmond while the Reverse side depicts the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
