June Update !!!!
Heyyyyy everyponyyyyyy,
Happy pride month!!! I made it in time for the June blog post. I’ve been rapidly improving my art, but have this funny thing where I don’t like changing the style drastically during the course of an issue. So I’ve created a dilemma where I’ve found faster ways to draw, but will stick to the old style of drawing for consistency. So the comic making process has been a DRAG and I want it to go faster so you can meet my goobers!!!!!! But I wouldn’t trade drawing the comic for anything else and I foresee only one part left of the third issue!!!! So it’s all clear from here!
I’ve included some children’s day illustrations of Cally, Jamu, Sydney (whom has not appeared yet….). I must admit that the comic has been updating too slow for my personal expectation, but it’s for the health of the project in the end so can’t do much there. I can promise one thing! Sydney will appear in the next issue (yay!!!)
anyways because the comic is too slow, I’m gonna info-dump to keep things spicy. In relation to the illustrations, I realized I never mentioned that Callum is two years older than Janus. So uh….how do they know eachother? Let’s segue into a strange Epic discussion !!! My unorthodox headcanon is that in Epic (2013) children have no “biological” parents. Kind of freaky but hear me out.
Jinn children sprout from flowers, seeds, or the wind or are born out of any natural element via forest (this in includes the Leafmen, ig they’re born from leaves???). They are adopted by two main individuals (their “parents/guardians”), but are raised in groups rather than a nuclear family. It takes a village to raise a kid afterall. For me the population of Jinn reflects the health of the forest. When Janus mentions “the lack of Jinn births” and “being one in a million,” it actually reflects whether the forest can spare the energy to create more individuals. To me, Jinn can only be born in a Goldilocks zone kind of sense. It’s not only their environment, but it’s the size that determines the result, they cannot be too big or small and the rare few who are the “right” size born at the right time are the cognitive ones that we know Jinn to be. This has been my only explanation for why some dandelions are inanimate and others are anthro. This extends to bugs/small amphibians like Buffo the Toad as well. It has to be just right for life to begin and it’s just another telling sign of the health of the kingdom.
Janus and Callum probably were cared for together and thus have that childhood bond. Janus is totally introverted and probably didn’t make any close friends outside of Callum until he met Sydney in leafmen camp (or whatever training they go though ig). Anyways!! Feel free to let me know ur personal headcanons about Epic (2013) lore, I’d love to share more and hear more as well! Just ask via askbox or comment below :ppppp
SEE YA GUYS IN A MONTH !!!!
