"I wonder if he's been taking care of himself.. Only one way to find out I guess," the traveler hummed, turning his head look around.
"..Xiao, are you there?"

"I wonder if he's been taking care of himself.. Only one way to find out I guess," the traveler hummed, turning his head look around.
"..Xiao, are you there?"
"Time to return to Liyue in time for the Lantern Rite."
"Hello, Aether." Lumine stands a small distance away, reaching up to pull hair out of her face. It's a very picturesque scene, wind blowing against her gently as she stands in grass.
"I had to come see you. I heard you were in Natlan, and I wanted to visit. It's been so long since I was here myself." She takes a moment to look around, admiring the countryside. "Are you doing well?"
"Lumine--"
Her name left his lips with a faint hitch, heart racing at the sight of her familiar form. Aether held back the urge to rush forward, listening intent with hands squeezing at his sides. A part of him could barely believe she was even there to begin with, so haunted by vague shadows and whispers in traces where they had once been, and yet she appeared so vivid before him.
The final question squeezed at his chest and lit a fire behind his eyes, moisture prickling at the corners as a hard lump began to form in his throat. Well? No, in that moment, Lumine's question felt so foolish - of course he wasn't doing 'well', he wanted her back, to be reunited.. he wanted to go home.
"I.." His gaze averted only for a flicker, mouth squeezing shut, "I am. There are so many new things, and I've already met some wonderful people.."
I wish you were a part of this.
"And you, Lumine? Are you.. alright?"
❛ can't sleep? ❜ Albedo -> Aether
(I need a good excuse for Albedo to deal with a tired traveler haha, I hope you don't mind!)
"You could say that.."
He had hoped no one would hear him when he snuck away for a while, not wanting to disturb Paimon's sleeping or make anyone worry, but it also wasn't a surprise that of all the people who noticed, it was Albedo.
"I've just got a lot on my mind since what happened in Fontaine.. Try as I might to push forward, I always seem to stumble right back. I can't stop wondering what my sister would do, how she would handle things, or.. what she might be thinking right now. Is she just as worried about me, as I am about her?"
As his knees were brought closer to his chest, a defeated sigh escaped.
"I know it's not helpful to think about, but.." A yawn interrupted his words, as he moved one hand up to rub at his eyes, "Mmm.. Sometimes, I just can't quiet all the thoughts buzzing around in my mind."

"Thank you.. It was really close back there," after he'd been knocked out of the sky, he had little time to react when an abyss mage had taken him off guard, and he would have had a harder fight, had it not been for the sudden arrival of this unexpected help arriving just in time.
He didn't have to look at her vision to know which element she wielded.
"My name is Aether, and the little fairy you saw running away earlier is Paimon. She's.. not much of a fighter. Are you from around here?"
❛ i’d say we make a pretty good team. ❜ // from zhongli to aether!
A job well done; a commission finished in near record time, thanks to the sudden arrival and assistance given by the funeral parlor's consultant at just a crucial time. It was serendipitous in a way, almost too convenient.
"Thank you, Zhongli. Your shields really come in handy," his own Geo powers could only take him so far, but leave it as no surprise that the Lord of Geo himself would have a much stronger use of the element. It made him thankful that this man was on his side, rather than his enemy.
Without restoring his powers, Aether knew he wouldn't stand a chance.
"Next time, though.. Could you give a bit more of a warning before dropping that large boulder overhead? I think Paimon would have ended up blown halfway across Liyue, if she hadn't been taking shelter."
"Kaeya traveled to Sumeru to drink wine, didn't he? ..Maybe he'd enjoy a bottle from Fontaine as a birthday gift."
"Paimon must have been really thirsty.. all the milk is gone. Guess I'll have to go out and buy more."
