Cassandra hadn't been sleeping well, even with the Briarwoods gone she still kept flashing through memories that had her waking, a scream brewing in her throat and her scars feeling like hot brand against her skin.

"I keep thinking that this is the dream... that I'll wake up and still be in their hands." Her voice was small, eyes unable to meet her brother's as she spoke.

Cassandra did her best to avoid people as much as possible once the Briarwoods had been taken care of. Everyone assumed it was her readjusting to everything but there was no adjusting what they had done to her, what they had made her. It was worse having her sister come home when she didn't even recall what the Briarwoods had been like. Cassandra stayed out of sight as much as she could but it seemed like fate wanted something else from her because she soon realized she wasn't alone in the library.

Anonymous asked: A bat crawls in Cassandra's pocket, and takes a little nap.

"And where did you come from?" She asked a little bit on edge up until the creature fell asleep. She still wasn't entirely over what happened with the Briarwoods, and probably never would be, that the bat felt like an omen of sorts.

"That doesn't surprise me in the slightest. From my point of view the world is a cruel dark place with only temporary pockets of reprieve. I wish you could have been one of the lucky ones and I'm sorry that you weren't." She looked up at the other.
