It had been a difficult day today for a young man, with him getting stopped by some policemen for ‘acting suspicious’ - apparently he looked like a lonesome delinquent up to no good, stalking around the sidewalk and popping in-and-out of alleyways with his bat in tow. He was allowed to walk away with a warning, but it left the man in an agitated mood.
It wasn’t his fault for the filthy infestations that plagued this city - it was a hidden sickness, ebbing away at unseen corners or spreading itself underground. Hell, some of the people walking around had the things floating right in front of them, and they didn’t even realize it - passing through them with no reaction, unseeing and unaffected by the visions that haunted the rare few who could detect them. However, he knew he couldn’t talk about them - he’d look crazy if he did. It was bad enough he had a resting bitch face most of the time; he didn’t want to come off as angry and insane on anyone’s radar anytime soon.
He trudged along, bat holstered on his back as he carried a disposable cup along with him, still silently fuming over getting caught for nothing worthwhile.
At least, he was... Until he saw a rather unusual sight before him.
He stepped closer, anger dissipating slightly as he approached. “Hey-- Err, you good there, ma’am?”
