@melemeleguardian || Duel at high noon around 8PM? Maybe earlier, maybe later
The long-awaited moment was finally here. Lucas waited at the farthest hollow of Ten Carat Hill, the wind blowing in anticipation and the full moon shining bright in the sky, illuminating the area even though the sky had already turned dark and they were far away from any cities.
(He actually intended to challenge Koko to a fight during the day, but the other man did say that he thought a battle under the moonlight was poetic, and if nothing else the mood had to be set just right.)
Could he fight on equal footing with Koko? The other man wasn’t just his mentor who taught him about combat in the first place, he was also the literal god of war, a guardian deity that had protected Melemele for an uncountably long amount of time. It was a foolish idea. And yet, Lucas was the one who said he was going to defeat Koko to prove himself as a grown man, and his ego meant he simply had to follow up on that promise.
“Perfect. There you are.” Now that his friend was there, they could begin. There was a sense of trepidation- he was straying really far from his comfort zone, after all- but at the same time, being someone who’s driven by curiosity, he felt oddly thrilled to try something new. Realistically, though, he was most likely going to lose, so he was making sure to keep his expectations grounded. “There’s something I wanted to show you that’s probably gonna make things more interesting.”
“It’s a work in progress, though. I haven’t actually tested it with another person.” What is he cooking?
