“So, what’s the occasion? You never plan dates this fancy.” - Allie to Bryce [[gIVE ME]]

“Isn’t that the irony of it all?” Bryce asked, a knowing smirk pulling at the edges of his lips as he took a slow sip of red wine. He set the glass down, the ring box in his pocket starting to burn, wanting to be pulled out and presented to his-hopefully- soon to be fiancee. “No special occasion,” Bryce lied smoothly. “I just feel I don’t spoil you enough, so this is my redemption for that.”
He wanted this to be a slow burn proposal. He also knew that if he proposed in front of everyone in this restaurant Allie would say no just for the sheer embarrassment of it all. So, to rectify that, he set up something in a secluded are of a park, decorated with rose petals, fairy lights, and bottles of champagne. Private, elegant, and the only acceptable proposal location for Allison. He knew the fancy dinner he reserved for the two of them would send Allie some red flags, but he didn’t care. This was the day he had been preparing for the moment they moved in together.
The walk to the park was filled with mindless small talk, Allie still on high alert because the situation was so starkly different from how they lived their lives. Yes, Bryce did have a lot of money, and could afford to do this every night if that’s what Allie wanted. But it never was. She wanted to keep it simple, and Bryce respected such wishes. Except for tonight.
In hindsight, Allie should have seen this coming, but the visage of the old park, fountain lit with the moonlight and fairy lights, rose petals peppered everywhere and bottles of champagne left her awestruck. Yes, she knew Bryce had a very beautiful artistic side, but she never knew it could be presented in such a romantic way. With chocolate brown eyes, stars flickering in her eyes, she turned to her boyfriend, no words being able to come out. Smiling, Bryce walked a little closer to her.
“I had to do this while we were alone. Goodness knows the ways you would have murdered me if I tried to pull this stunt in public,” Bryce chuckled, and realization washed over Allie’s face. Her mouth dropped open, which she quickly covered with her hands.
“Will you marry me?” He cut her off quickly, watching the tears beginning to well in her eyes. She didn’t answer, which started the nerves up again. Shit. Was this the wrong time? Was she going to say no? Rather than his fears becoming a reality, the words were just caught in her throat. Allie nodded violently, mouthing yes rather than stating it out loud. He took the time to slip the engagement ring-beautiful yet not over the top, perfect enough for Allie- before picking her up and spinning her around.
