he takes one look at her, and to his credit, jun blinks only once to confirm that it’s not a dream. “no, i know you.” he says quietly, low enough not to be overheard despite the dwindling crowd at the bar, “you’ve been, uh, quite the talk of the planet when your ship… um. crash-landed here.” and not in a figurative way, he thinks but doesn’t say. he figures she’s lived through it and doesn’t need the reminder. or the emphasis.
a glance at the bounty board confirms that her face is indeed on it, and that they were, in fact, the same person. he tops off her drink anyway.
“sorry about the rough landing? and uh. not to worry you, but i don’t think you should linger here much longer.” she’s already catching the eyes of a few patrons, what with the exorbitant sum printed nearly below her portrait. WANTED, DEAD OR ALIVE. not a criminal, she had said. if he thought the deception was offending, he doesn’t comment on it. “i won’t turn you in — but i can’t guarantee your safety either. you’re still going to have to pay for your drink, though.”
