William rolled the small gear over his knuckles, walking down the path back towards camp in thought.
It was the closest thing to a coin he'd seen since arriving in this... other world― Constant, the voice had supplied. Regardless, coin tricks were one of the first things William had learned as a child. He was grateful to find that he could still do it, the muscle memory long engraved in nimble fingers.
Having something familiar in this world was a comfort he wouldn’t take for granted, maybe the others would even enjoy it? Perhaps he could try and throw a show if resources allowed it―
❝ Oof. ❞
He grimaced as he bumped into something hard. What on earth― ?
William eyes widened as he realized it was some sort of... humanoid machine? It... was alive? He’d take the fact that he wasn’t already dead as a good sign and quickly recovered himself.
❝ Heavens― um. Forgive me. I, uh. didn’t see you there! I apologies. ❞
❝ Um, my name is William Carter. I... don’t believe I’ve seen you before... ? ❞

How odd.
William looked at the colored balloons floating around the camp, probably the last thing that he would have expected to see in such a place and yet, here they were. Floating around in their cheerful colors and shapes.
How odd indeed, but surprisingly pleasant. He wondered though, where did they come from?
He looked around and found that the balloons formed some sort of... trail? That lead to a younger man. He recalled seeing him before but couldn’t quite place a name.

William shifted in place, trying to let out some nervous energy as he frowned at the items in his hands. Looking back to the odd machinery in front of him― if he remembered correctly it was called an alchemy machine.
How hard could it be to make a new lightning rod, he’d thought. Yes! I could absolutely do this, he’d thought. Desperate to prove he had some worth and yet here he was. Standing around like an utter fool for― for god knows how long it’s been, William could even feel the presence at the back of his mind snickering at him over it.
Heavens, he’d be best off just swallowing his pride and asking for help. He couldn’t risk people’s safety over something as trivial as an ego. Letting out a small sigh William looked around for any of the other survivors nearby, eyes landing on a the man closest to him.
❝ Ah- um, apologies. Higgsbury, was it? ❞ he called out, ❝ I... I Would seem to be in need of some assistance, if you’re not too busy that is. ❞
