“Maa, Master. Asking personal questions now?” The cunning Saber couldn’t help but give a laugh. His master was trying to get to know him! How terribly quaint. He pondered over how to answer. Should he indulge him? let him know what was truly on his mind? but that didn’t sound very fun...

And besides, he hadn’t yet gotten a feel for his master...besides that he seemed terribly, terribly stiff in all of the wrong sorts of ways. Time to test him a bit, he thought...besides, thee reaction might be amusing. And if not, it would still give him some more information on what kind of man this Master was...valuable, if he was  to be dealing with him for an extended period. 

“What’s on my mind?” he leaned a bit closer over the lords desk. “maa...I was just thinking how much better that suit of your would look on the floor...Master~”

A brief peaceful moment was something to treasure, in his eyes.

A peaceful moment, in which Lucilius was being affectionate, was something he’d savour more than the finest of wines. For once, his boldness to simply put his head in his master’s lap was met favourably (rather than how it often turned out). Lucilius idly stroked gloved fingers through belial’s hair as he looked over the papers he was reading, his face as unreadable as ever.

Belial found his eyes drifting shut, lulled into a restful state by his creator’s familiar, yet rare gentle touch. If Belial could stop the flow of time and live in a moment like this, he would, gladly. There wasn’t anything more in life he needed than this. Forget about schemes, forget about keeping the world in order, forget about the mountain of paperwork waiting for him on his desk, forget about the archangels, and anything that might come after this. Just a for a moment the adjutant was exactly where he wanted to be, with not another care in the world.

The sound of shuffling papers and the idle touch...the smell of ink and parchment...Lucilus’ ever familiar and comforting scent...the occasional hum of thought from him, too. it all was serving to push Belial further and further into a rare restful state. Before he knew it, he was starting to nod off.

Suddenly Lucilius fisted his fingers into Belial’s hair and gave a sharp yank, drawing a startled sound from the suddenly wakeful primal.

“You’ve laid around long enough. Go and make yourself useful.”

Belial rubbed his head a bit and sat up chuckling. He had known that was too good to last too long. “Right away, Cilius....”
