a hermitcraft trope that doesn’t get NEARLY the amount of love it deserves is TFC being the local cryptid of the sever. and i KNOW that’s something usually attributed to joe. which is fair. but the other hermits see joe on a weekly, if not daily, basis. he’s a social man! it’s like if bigfoot moved in next door. sure it’s a bit unusual, but at one point you’d stop referring to him as “bigfoot the cryptid” and instead just go “my neighbour bigfoot”. the shock lessens with time and enough socialization.
TFC though? they’re lucky if they catch wind of him at ALL. he’s not even spotted once in a blue moon—those are far too common in comparison. it’s more like he’s spotted once per SEASON, as the second he gets his hand on a pickaxe, he’ll likely never be seen again until the world reset. it’s rumored that every empty mineshaft once belonged to him, no matter how far they may be from civilization. to fall into his mines is to fall into the backrooms, as escape is basically futile. you could wonder for years without ever seeing the light of day, and the endless, perfectly identical tunnels are said to be able to drive even the most calm and collected hermits to the brink of insanity
