the appearance of the other is unsettling in a way hard to pinpoint when hidden underneath the guise of her mysterious armor; taliyah hopes the other understands why she had initially not recognized the humanity that existed beyond the surface. a tinge of guilt lingers regardless. her gaze is wide and warm as it observes, the softness that she has to offer the other clear. they are not similar - not in any discernible ways, from what she understood, but that did not matter to her. taliyah was used to feeling different, to being an outsider. maybe it was not in the same ways that kai'sa had it experienced it, but it mattered not. their paths had crossed, the two of them were here now, living and breathing. that was what mattered.

"i know." taliyah had every confidence that it was far from kai'sa's intentions. there were many things that she wished to know about the other, that she wished to understand, her mind burning bright with curiosity. she has held back in that regard, prioritized the necessity of their own survival first and foremost, the survival of the people that she promised to take care of, that kai'sa had helped her save.

the fire flickered brightly between them, but it does not stop taliyah from leaning forward, enjoying the contrast of warmth from cool desert evenings, and getting a better look at kai'sa. "and i won't let anyone hurt you." if they gave her a chance, could look past their own reactions - things would be fine. but that was not always the reality, she knew that firsthand. her mouth cracks open with a smile. "even if you don't need anyone to protect you." but the two of them made a good pair, didn't they? they were stronger together.
