IT’D BEEN WET FOREST LINING TWO-WAY ROAD for about an hour until there was substantial traffic and p e o p l e milling around the outskirts of the city. Fingers rake through the mess of shoulder length waves, tumbled and wild from the rush of air that came with driving with the windows all the way down. Sharon’s mostly focused on the road this entire time, habitually keeping quiet with the occasional hum to Foreigner or B r u c e S p r i n g s t e e n on the CD playing ( sure, they’re heavily outdated now in the futuristic age of technology, but her phone is too impersonal to have anything but a list of contacts and some texts on it and iPhones are too easy to snap in her line of work ). She glances to her right o n c e, twice, but it's all the attention served until the soles of muddied boots land on sidewalk concrete. ❛ Don’t worry too much about paying me back ––––– I’m putting this on a burger tab that you now owe me. ❜ / @patronedsaint !
