Initial Consultation by Donation: Helpful Advice
In 2013, I started the Initial Consultation by Donation initiative where individuals seeking legal advice are provided a free initial consultation and invited to make a donation to the Surrey Food bank.
Whether a donation is made or not is up to the individual. Either way, they receive informative legal advice and are given the opportunity to help others.. Sometimes donations are made directly by the donor to the food bank. But typically donations are submitted to me and passed on to the Surrey Food Bank at the end of each month on the donor's behalf. If by cheque, the person receives a receipt from the food bank. Either way, its money that goes to a good cause and allows individual access to legal information.
To date, the total amount of donations are approximately $1700.00 since the initiative was commenced.
The initial consultation by donation continues in the areas of family law and personal injury. I do try to see as many people as I can. This is particularly so given that winter is coming up which means bigger needs and demands on our food bank in our communities.
