Dichotomy of the Elements

Coming up with the actual elements are easy and difficult. Some, they were easy like Fire, Ice, and Bubble because they were obvious, but I had to crack my head for the next two, Electric especially. Spring was one of the ideas I had, but I didn't use it because of time constraints, and I noticed that Mario probably didn't enjoy being bound by a coil.

I did not intend to have Mario and Wario have indirect interactions, yet the cartoon very clearly makes it easy to assume that the interacted. So, like Mario looked like he's blowing bubbles and then Wario's caught in one of the bubbles. If I were to make them interact, things would've looked different, like maybe Wario facing the other way when he's burned, and Mario's perspective wouldn't be viewed as an above shot. I guess the outcome is a happy accident, since it makes the cartoon better that way.

Originally, the sequence was reversed. As in, it was originally Wario asking Mario if he could allow him to be in his games before fainting. This is one instance where I found that the other way around fits the sequence better, but there is a remnant where you might be able to see the original flow, which is basically Mario's posing. Were I to originally plan this sequence from the start, Mario would've faced Wario.

Fire and Ice Bros

Imagine if power ups could be merged and combined... I'm open to taking suggestions and I'll credit whoever came up with the idea! Just tell me the character and powerups you'd like to see!

Wanted to do some Power Up experiments. Racoon Mario has the like, classic Mario palette because it is from an earlier entry in the series and I decided that it would be funny if Mario didn’t decide on normal, blue, overalls til much later down the line. Ice Mario gets the white hair because it’s cool, and Rainbow Mario gets the golden hair because I wanted to homage the similarities between the movie’s form of Invincible/Rainbow Mario and the Super Sonic appearance from the second Sonic Movie because they are similar enough and I headcanon that’s about what the Super Star works like ANYWAYS.

NSMB - Mario sports a color swapped version of his normal outfit similar to the fire flower. He can shoot ice balls, projectiles that are somewhat floaty and will bounce once before vanishing. If one hits a normal enemy, it will be trapped in ice! The enemy and the ice will shatter if Mario bonks it like a ? block from underneath or ground pound it from above, or alternatively, he can pick the block up from the side and throw it across the screen! When thrown, it will slide across the ground until it shatters against a wall, taking out anything it comes into contact with on the way! The ice balls can also take out fire-based enemies and enemy projectiles.

SMG - Mario transforms into an ice sculpture of himself, and upbeat music plays to suggest this powerup is on a relatively short timer. If Mario touches the surface of a body of water, an ice platform will form beneath his feet which he can stand on. On the ice, if Mario uses his spin attack, he will begin skating, moving slightly faster than normal and moving forward on his own! While skating, he can still perform his normal, double, triple, and long jumps, and if he uses his spin attack again, he gains a small burst of speed! The midair spin attack loses most of its vertical boost, but will now retain all horizontal momentum.

World of Nintendo 4″ Series 2-5 Update

Some new official pictures have surfaced of the four previously revealed figures:

Ice Mario does indeed have the correct blue hat- it was shown at toy fair. Seems the Marketing department just got an error figure. 

Lakitu is great! His glasses appear to have lenses, but he doesn’t appear to have elbows at this point- that would be odd. The super-obvious seam in the cloud makes some speculating that Lakitu is removable. That would be awesome, but I think they would have showed off that feature if it was included. 

Inkling Girl looks awesome in these shots! She looked a little iffy in some pics I saw from toyfair, but maybe that was the angle or lighting. 

Bowser Jr. looks straight out of Super Mario Sunshine. He will be the first Gamecube-specific era figure, so I hope this opens the doors to a nice transparent blue Shadow Mario and a Luigi’s Mansion Luigi!

The final surprise was what the toywiz leaks led us to believe was “Classic Mario” seems it is really just an alt. version of Star Power Mario. I...don’t really know why this is being made, especially in the same wave as another Mario repaint. Though this isn’t necessarily the final version, It looks even less accurate to the in-game power-up than the previous, clear, pearly Star Power Mario. 

Release was leaked to be March, so get ready to hunt!
