@jazwares Select 6" Articulated Zapdos! This figure is hitting Targets somewhat simultaneously across the country, so I had to rush out and get one! Zapdos is my favorite of the legendary bird trio, and Articuno was a really good figure, so my hopes were high. And Jazwares delivered! Lacking Articuno's ornate tail, Zapdos needed to impress in a different way- its neck! While Articuno had a disappointing swivel, Zapdos can hinge up into flying position, as well as look around in different directions. When it comes to wings, I think it has what it needs- a simple hinge at the base. In media, Zapdos' wings may flex slightly when flying, but I've never seen them fully bend as most birds do. As with Articuno, the talons all move independently, so Zapdos can perch or catch enemies. I've started with a simple photo, but I'll be posting Zapdos all week, including closer looks and thoughts in my story. Quick appreciation post for @goodsmilecompany ! I was really worried their partnership with Nintendo had dissolved, as the long gap between the announcement of figma Pearl and Marina (released) and Metroid Dread Samus was unprecedented since their releases began in 2012! I'm very happy to see we will not only be getting another Samus, but also a special edition of their amazing Kirby! (Which is up for preorder now) Now it's totally possible we finally get some figma from the BotW Universe when the sequel releases, and even another set of Inklings with Splatoon 3! Now here is my (completely random speculation based on no actual evidence) lineup for the Jakks 4" line of Mario figures for 2022. I'm definitely being generous because the year is half over and there have been zero new releases. But I think 3 repaints, one new headsculpt/repaint and 2 figures based on existing tooling are definitely still doable! Only one of these is officially confirmed- being a Purple Yoshi, available in a 3 pack. This is @jakkstoys 2.5" Super Mario wave 35! Along with 3 common reprints, this is our first opportunity at buying Spike Top alone (though getting the diorama set for $15-20 was a good deal IMO). Brand new Rosalina headlines the set. She swivels at the shoulders and head a little bit. Design wise, you can easily see that she has too many visible eyes and too few earrings. You might see this as easy one to skip if you have the better-looking amiibos, but I know that sales do inform who gets promoted to larger scale. Hopefully they can more easily capture her beauty and grace at a larger scale- a full 6" if I'm dreaming. In a bit of a weird shipping scenario, these were only in a special easter display at some Walmart stores, not actually taking the place of the previous wave (Daisy) in the checklanes. 2.5" collectors might just have a lot to hunt for this year! Having already seen the release of Daisy and Rosalina, it seems Jakks has shrugged off their previous "no female, no pink/purple" mentality. And it's definitely for the better! Boom Boom, Pink and Purple Yoshis, Running White Yoshi and Clown Car Jr. have all been confirmed by the company last year. But after showing nothing at their only con this year, we are left to guess who else, if anyone, might be joining the line! Would you like to see some of these additional characters in the 2.5" line? Here's my figma Young Link with his former self- I mean the figure it was built upon! The talented @pkmn_glenn 3D printed the hair, face and bandolier, and hand sculpted the other details- boot tops, shirt collar and sleeves. When it was passed on to me, I 3D printed the sword, shield and scabbard, as well as sculpting the belt loops and buckle and all of the painting! Rayquaza Appeared! Can May capture it and save Hoenn? This is the new @jazwares Pokemon Select Rayquaza! I made it no secret that this was my favorite line of figures last year. Charizard and Articuno were astounding AND in my preferred scale! Rayqyaza came a little late but it is still very impressive! Every body segment is articulated, with the arms similar to Charizard's and the head being particularly superior to Articuno. So it can do some fun poses! It can stretch to an impressive length, though it only comes to just over 20 inches. This makes it the largest articulated Rayquaza to my knowledge, though not as large as it appears in the Pokedex, the anime, or especially Smash Bros. It seems like a few more inches could have fit into the box, but I assume Jazwares has a materials budget they can't exceed at their chosen (and extremely fair) $20. Would I like to see the success of this line blossom into a super-deluxe $30 line? Of course! But until then, I think I'd prefer they simply chose monsters that fit within their limitations- those that range from 5.5-7.5 ft tall. Or serpentine types apparently up to 20 ft.
