-one billion eyes emojis- what’s anatomy lessons??
sdjsfdjkdfs so that’s the first fic i ever started writing for patho, more than a year ago. the plot of it is basically “daniil wants to learn khatanghe, artemy gets a little emotional about it and teaches him ~*physical vocabulary.*~” it’s STILL not done because! i keep falling into research holes with buryat and mongolian vocabulary. like, seriously, i’ve downloaded an entire database of vocab/definitions/translations for this fic instead of actually WRITING the damn thing. i really need to just sit down and crank it out and put all of the anatomical bits in brackets. that said, here’s a snippet:
“You already know ‘shekhen,’” he murmurs, tracing a fingertip along the shell of Daniil’s ear.
Daniil shudders and leans into the touch, but his brows furrow, just faintly. “The village is named ‘the ear’?”
His tone’s only a bit skeptical. Artemy shrugs, amused. “Is it any stranger than the Gullet, or the Marrow? The Town is a body, as much as the bodies within it are.”
i’m still really invested in the idea, a. because i absolutely have a Thing for my ships teaching each other stuff in their native languages, and b. because there’s a lot of interesting little idiomatic things in any language that i always get hung up on when doing research for this kind of thing, and the ones i’ve stumbled on for terms in buryat are all really interesting so i want to infodump about them via fic
