I drew these when the book came out in 2021 since I got an early copy. Wondering if it will get any notes now that it has a small fandom.

I was pretty proud of them at the time and it's one of my favorite books, so the lack of attention was a bit disheartening, I hate to say.

During a heatwave, Jack suggests a way to cool off.

‘You said you didn’t want my hands or any other part of me on you,’ Jack said.

Alan glowered at him, and was intent on not breaking first for all of eight seconds before he burst out, ‘You can’t hold me to that; you didn’t give me all the facts.’

Jack lifted a dark, sardonic eyebrow. ‘Didn’t I?’

‘No. You’re a bald-faced liar, actually. You told me you didn’t have a way to cool me down.’

‘I’m sorry I neglected to tell you about the existence of ice, Cesare, but I thought what with your father selling ice cream for a living and you having been on Earth for almost three decades—’

‘I know about ice,’ Alan interrupted. ‘I didn’t know you had ideas about ice.’

“Yes, that would do nicely. Sir Robert strong-armed my sister into bringing him here to seek my help, and threatened us with harm unless I abused my access to the lockroom in order to locate Mr. Courcey. Overcome by concern for his friend, of course, but still. Most brutish behaviour.”

“And we are but feeble women,” said Miss Morrissey. “Woe.”

“Your sister is a magician,” Robin said, pointing out what seemed the largest hole in this story.

“Woe,” said Mrs. Kaur firmly, and Robin recalled what Miss Morrissey had said about the assumptions made by men.

One of my favourite things about The Restless Truth is how much Maud loves her brother in law, she thinks of him as often as of Robin in not more

Robin: his obsession with Edwin's fingers and they way he discribes his dancing and fidgeting while he reads

Edwin: acnowledging that he has a good handful of people who care about him mid book 3

Maud: the way she recalls the 3 kisses she's witnessed

Violet: sensually describing Maud's varicose veins, discribing her calves as, "lewd"

Alan: giving a "token wiggle" when hawthorne grabs him after his dart to the door

Jack: putting his arm around Maud and acting like an asshole to convince boat authorities they are sleeping together

Adelaide: when she waits for Edwin's permission to hug him
