Did you know that Ice The Movie has original songs custom made for the movie?!
Our Man Crush Monday goes out to our rising musician Taylor Hurst who wrote and performed his original song ‘Glide’ for the film!
What was your inspiration for the song?
Glide was a song I conjured up purely through imagination. It definitely was an interesting process as I would imagine myself in the characters shoes and would think to myself, “What would they be saying to each other.” What would this scenario look like.” That helped a lot as I would literally be sitting in my room all night writing.
After reading the script, the lyrics just poured out. I visualized a story in my head and went with it. I’m happy with the way the song came out.
What are your goals as a musician?
I plan on using my music to inspire others. I want to give people hope through my songs and be a role model for the younger generation of kids to look up to!
I would love to make a living as a musician even if it’s just part time. As long as music is in my life in some way or form, I’ll be happy.
Would you want to write songs for other movies in the future?
Yes! I had a blast collaborating with ICE: The Movie! With this experience I got to see how the process worked! I thoroughly enjoyed it all and would love to write more songs for movies!
Who is your biggest inspiration in your industry?
I love listening to all genres, but Alternative Rock is my favorite. Singer Stephen Christian known from the band, “Anberlin” is someone I’ve always looked up to. His writing style resonates with my soul. Even though Anberlin has disbanded, they will always be my biggest inspiration due to their unique style and meaningful lyrics.
What is the most rewarding part and what is the most challenging part of collaboration?
Starting is a challenge initially haha, but once everything is mapped out,I notice things start working together harmoniously and from there on out everything starts unfolding pretty quickly. The most rewarding part is creating something with others that people can connect to and enjoy!
What does the rest of 2018 look like for you career wise?
Action packed with new original music!!
My debut EP ‘Redline’ is now available on itunes! My Spring and Summer will be fun as I’m looking forward to performing new music/covers at more weddings and different gigs!
The rest of 2018 is up to the universe. I’m happy with the way things are unfolding and am thankful for all of the opportunities I’ve had so far this year.
