So I committed a crime and watched the movie of FMA before I even read vol 2. I pretty much liked it - aesthetically pleasing and with an actual plot, which is quite good for a manga adaptation (the bar's so low omg.) Did you watch it? If yes, your thoughts? Husband was cursing the whole time bc his faves weren't here. How about you?

I didn’t watch it yet, i, huh, hadn’t come around to do it yet kdjhfdj I kinda expect that things are going to be different, I already know they removed one of the major character of the first few volumes which blows my mind (tell that to your husband and tell him i made a pun and he may know what i’m talking about), but I guess it has to happen with adaptations. Also I’m kinda biased bc my favs characters appears in volume 7/8 and i’m pretty certain the movie didn’t go this far orz

For the few things i’ve seen there are things i find nice for fans, I guess it can’t truly adapt the manga - but I still need to see it to make a full opinion for myself!

Which homunculus was your favorite out of both FMA and FMAB?

omg I’m a Greed Trash all the ways in both anime (although when it comes to Brotherhood I always really mean Manga but there it’s not important ahah)

I just... really really love Greed? I always did, and reading the manga made it even funnier for me because ‘oh no Greed died :( well at least I love this new character Ling, it will ease me over the fact I can’t see Gr- are you kidding me.”

Aside from Greed that I love in both version hhuuuuh, in Brotherhood/Manga, I find Wrath kinda fascinating tbh (for as much as an ass he can be, like, he’s an unredeemable asshole but I really find his story fascinating.). I really like Envy in general for what a brat they can be ahah, and I go from hate to love when it comes to Pride. I kinda like Gluttonny too, for some reasons? I think i kinda value the fact he loved Lust this much and had such a bond with her. I don’t feel much for Sloth. Lust is a character I kinda like but.....

I’ve watched 03 first, and Lust is such a well rounded character in 03? As much as I prefer the manga to 03, The Homunculi is one of the reasons I still look foundly over 03 (first because I love the concept of them being failed transmutation, and second bc I love how fleshed out some of them are). 

As a result, in 03, after Greed, or hell, even before Greed at times, it’s definitly Lust. I loved her progression as a character and I grew really, really attached to her. So even there I admit I’m not as involved in her Manga’s counterpart even if she has still the power, design and some personalities fro the 03 counterpart, but 03 just spoiled me too much with her. I still love her in the manga, but it’s more shallow love toward the manga than in the 03 anime.

In 03, I also really liked Envy more, I found theur banters in general to be funnier. Then I think it’d be Sloth or Wrath, depending, I especially love the moral stuff around Sloth in 03. And in opposition, I have no affection for Gluttony nor Pride in 03. What I found endearing with Gluttony happened too late in 03 and I didn’t find his end as horrifying as in the Manga. As for Pride, I think he was kinda stripped of everything I liked with him in the manga.

If I had to make a top of all of them together, definitly:1- Greed - Every versions2- Lust - 20033- Wrath - Manga4- Envy - 20035- Envy - Manga6- Gluttony - Manga7- Pride - Manga8- Sloth - 20039- Lust - Manga10- Wrath - 200311- Gluttony - 200312- Sloth - Manga13- Pride - 2003

We need more shounen series to have and view their female cast as FMA cast tbh? Just not for oversexualization and jokes, sometimes with an iron first, sometimes with a wrench, sometimes bloody and gorey but also at times weak (just like the male cast since it has a great male cast with their own strenghts and weaknesses too) We just. Need more female writing shounen tbh?

I kinda agree. Mostly women in FMA are just soo good and I love the writting around them, they all have something I genuinely like. It’d be good if more Shounen were like that. 

It’s just nice to have series written by women sometimes. FMA was really amazing on that standpoint hh

Wild idea here,,,, but what if,,, Maes Hughes stayed alive,,,, at the end of 1(one) FMA retelling?

‘kay, realistic, but you get me wishing ;;-;;

the problem with fma is that so much of the details have a payoff later, and Hughes died because he was the first one to realize the conspiracy - like. Him alive would probably have saved a lot of time in the story

but damn now it’s really painful to think about ;;-;; w h y. We didn’t deserve to have this happening.

but to be fair i can’t blame you, i never remember which part of the word i’m supposed to double (Glutonny? Gluttony? Gluttonny?? I don’t know man - yet it’s not too far from the French word for people who loves to eat a lot (glouton) but can’t remember)

And well. He does vore a lot. We can’t do anything else about it :’D

aah ye!!! Ye I was terrified you wer spoiled about the Greeling thing!!!

it’s one of my fav storyline (i mean Ling is my fav and before him i loved Greed soooo ofc it’s my fav storyline) so it’s actually what I blog the most about regarding FMA. So I was terrified I spoiled you about what happened, and i’m still worried you may find Greeling storyline spoilers on my blog!

but at least i’m relived that you didn’t know how their storyline was going to cross kjhfdkjfh
