#SouthHadley, MA- 1802, a young farm boy named Pliny Moody is out plowing the fields of his family's farm when he turns up a layer of rock with strange tracks preserved in the stone. . Young Pliny was not quite sure what to make of this discovery, thinking the tracks must have been left by some large bird- maybe a turkey. . Carving out a track to use as a doorstop, he showed his find to a local Doctor who decided the finding as the tracks if "Noah's Raven" (Noah having released two birds from his ark, the first being a raven that did not return) . In fact what our farm boy found were the first #ichnographs, or #dinosaur footprints, ever found- and this area along the Connecticut River would be rich with further discovery and the inquiry into these creatures from the distant past. . . #instahistory #paleontology #dinosaurs #ConnecticutRiverValley #PlinyMoody #History #Science #igersmassachusetts (at Breezy Acres Farm)
