            With a grin on his face, Sean officially won this round. Winning a pot of about thirty bucks. It wasn’t a whole lot, expecting to get around sixty, but it was better than losing.

           He twisted the cap off his bottle and poured more in his shot glass, slamming back another shot. The burn down his throat energized him and he coughs slightly.

           If he knew the man across from him, playing poker with him, he would get an earful. From Dutch and Sean to the other man. But at the moment, he had no clue about the guy, assuming he was just a regular in town.

           “Good game, would ya’ say?” he grinned, spoke with so much pride. Of course, the thief would never admit that he cheated a little. More than a little. But if it turned over in his favor, why did he care? He really didn’t. 

           Trying to make some conversation, he decided to point out the gun on his belt. “Nice- uh, six-shooter ya’ have there. I have one of my own.” 

           If allowed, he could talk for hours on end. It was either a smart move or he was a complete fool with drawing attention to the guns on them.

           “Yer not a bounty hunter, are you?” he was a complete fool, asking questions like this.

Steel blue eyes narrowed for a split second from across the communal space where Hux sat at the dejarrik table. Awkward wasn’t even the right descriptor for this situation. The apparent spy was smart to ask, Eron had to admit, but he wouldn’t simply lower his blaster simply to give Hux the satisfaction of being given an answer. Far smarter would it be for the General to double cross them now that he was light years away from both the bulk of the First Order and the Resistance. “Believe me, I would have,” he sharply corrected, “But it’s not up to me.”

weary  chocolate  gaze  follows  the  march  of  the  few  officers,  noting  the  redhead  general  apparently  in  charge.     she  knows  his  name  but  it  slips  from  her  bleary  mind.      being  proper,  diplomatic,  is  how  she  should  act,  but  she’s  too  damn  tired.      straightening  her  shoulders,  she  strode  toward  them,  duffel  slung  over  her  shoulder.          ❝   i  could  use  a  bacta  bandage.    ❞          so  too  should  she  introduce  herself,  but  why  bother?      her  face’s  plastered  on  the  holonet   &&   the  rags  what  felt  like  every  other  week.          ❝   &&   the  nearest  refresher.   ❞

(Alistair is scanning the books, seemingly trying to keep himself occupied. Fiona approaches him.)

          He does not much care for Hux. Of this he’s been certain since he’d laid eyes on him, because Dorian considers himself to be quite the judge of character, and he still isn’t sure the man possesses one. Their interactions have been, admittedly, minimal, with little reason to see each other in more than passing and even smaller reason to strike up conversation, the resting look on Hux’s face being one of such profound unfriendliness.

          How he ended up opposite the templar at all is a matter of warmth. The war camp is situated on what he believes to be the frostiest peak imaginable, and there is but one fire big enough to warm more than a pinky finger, if only to conserve wood. His complaints might have been in full force since they’ve arrived, but the atmosphere is so sullen even Dorian feels bad contributing to it.

          A time for unlikely conversation partners indeed.

          “Oh, undoubtedly. Lucky for us the number of people capable of destroying the world is few, isn’t it?” he replies with a cheeky smile. "But small edifices? Food stands? Those are always in danger of meeting their fate to wanton mages.” He tried to respect the stance of templars, once. But only in the way that one politely tries a nasty side dish in the interest of fairness to the estranged relative who brought it.
