cinderella, aladdin, moana :)
cinderella : did your muse experience any childhood traumas ? did they overcome them ?
ash’s childhood trauma will always involve witnessing the murder of his brother. he was ten years old at the time and even though hypnos made sure to manipulate his grief so that it can only be experienced in dreams, ash still feels the gap everyday. he only truly overcomes it when his mother confronts him as an adult to fulfil her own revenge plan in punishing hypnos without getting her own hands dirty. it’s then and only then where he finally realises that pondering on the divine acts of the gods is really a waste of his breath, as they are ultimately selfish and reflective of every corrupt ruling class throughout history. ironically hypnos at least had the backbone to own up to what he did, and helped ash and his family live their lives as pain free as possible - even if his methods were a little unorthodox.
aladdin : if your muse had 3 wishes, what would they wish for ?
first one would be to be left alone. his entanglement with olympus is, frankly, exhausting. even when they’re not physically there he can feel their gaze on him, watching his every move, as if he were an ant on an ant farm, or a bomb after having an unknown wire cut. historically it’s not unusual for demigods to lash out at their godly lineage for the pain they most likely inflicted on them at an early age, and so ash was placed under a constant wary eye just in case he’s tempted to become a thorn on olympus’s side. this never happens of course, but even so they never leave.
second would be happiness for his father, in whatever form it is. ash loves his father dearly, but he knows phillipe has never truly been happy since the death of his son. ash can also see that his father has never really moved on from demeter, as he still visits the ash tree where they shared their first kiss in moments of reflection. whether this comes in the form of a new partner or a bigger home or something a little more abstract, ash isn’t 100% sure. either way, he prioritises the wellbeing of his father above his own and would do anything to make sure he’s ok.
thirdly is for his beloved corgi to live until ash passes away. daffy was gifted to ash by an unknown supporter (which is later revealed to be his mother), to help keep him company after the death of his brother. since then they have been practically inseparable, and she has assisted him in his worse moments. ash can’t even fathom a life without her.
moana : does your muse believe in fate or destiny ? what is theirs ?
as someone who follows the jewish faith, ash has been raised on the idea of there one day being everlasting ‘peace and harmony’. whether he believes that this is his ‘destiny’ is a bit of a stretch, but it’s certainly something he strives for and tries to integrate into his daily life as best he can. he is of course told by his mother that his ‘true destiny’ is to bring justice onto hypnos for assassinating noah, but ultimately ash realises that so this called fate and destiny is much more malleable than you think, and it’s as much of a choice as anything. by choosing peace, ash finally experiences some form of sudo-closure and that has always been his intention.
