Many species are blind, some develop through metamorphosis while others give live birth to developed young
Caecilians of the family Ichthyophiidae, known as “fish caecilians”, “striped caecilians”, or “Asian tailed caecilians”, are basal/primitive among caecilians, possessing eyes and a very short tail (most caecilians are tailless and many lack eyes)
in India they are believed to be extremely poisonous (they aren’t) and are often killed on sight
