「PERSONALITY」: taeyeon is a girl who’s learned to live for herself—to care was to be burdened and on her wee shoulders, she already carried enough; there was the issue of her family and what they didn’t have, there was the issue of what she had and what she could do, and finally, there was the issue of caring too much and being hurt by it. Yes, part of her seems and is both facetious and selfish, both traits born out of a desire to live with more ease, to stop herself from caring too much.
Because when she does, it’s too much.
because hers is a devotion that could build resurrect even the hollowest of bodies, move and calm the angriest of seas.
「BACKGROUND」: a countryside flower, taeyeon lived the first part of her life without much thought; her hands were much too busy with carrying and heaving, her eyes too busy traversing the line of the hill’s back and the curves of her mother’s smiling eyes and her ears too full of the chitter chattering of her siblings and the cicadas’ requiem of a love song. yet there were people who noticed her genius before she herself—school was far too easy for the child who spent the whole class gazing out the window and drawing on her notes.
she’s eight when she first gets her hand on a rubik’s cube.
she solves it thrice within the half hour.
it marks the beginning of the second phase of her life—the beginning of the acknowledgement, of the pressure to do well and to give herself something “better” than what she was born with. taeyeon had never minded the shoddy house that she had grown up in, but when presented with the possibilities of a shining and illuminated future, she began to not mind escape. eventually, her own desires, melded with those of the people around her made her seek it.
at age sixteen, she graduates and is immediately offered a chance to study in seoul—it doesn’t take long until she finds a passion for eager hands to wrap themselves around: the creation of dolls, from the bottom up. she’s on the verge of reaching eighteen when paper parcel takes her in as an intern, and only half through her eighteenth year when they actually hire her. many ideas and designs were sparked from her young, eager brain, something that then, she had been proud of.
time turns pride to shame and for unspecified reasons, she quits her job at paper parcel. she’s only nineteen.
now twenty, she runs what appears to be a repair shop on the surface; however, a simple phrase can let you see what her body shop is really about—selling lost and stolen robots and their parts under the table. until this point, she had had the backing of one of the most influential gangs in seoul, having their help in both kidnapping and/or taking out the requested query; however, they had requested too much control over her (the petite femme makes quite the amount of dough and money always attracts the worst of people), so for now she works without aide.
