Just wondering, why WERE the gearhulks colored artifacts? Don't get me wrong, I love them, but they do seem rather out of place.

Development wanted them both to cost colored mana to cast (for balancing purposes) and be artifacts (for synergy and flavor purposes). Colored artifacts was the cleanest way to do both. There was much debate on it as there are no other colored artifacts in Kaladesh.

I feel like the people complaining about Magic's story and the over-exposure of the Gatewatch haven't actually been reading the story. Personally, I think switching to the Gatewatch as recurring main characters has been a great move. It has made me feel way more invested in the ongoing plotlines as well as the individual stories of Gatewatch members. And I say all of this as a lover of old-school Magic story and a frequent buyer of the novels that used to be published.

I feel that focusing on the Gatewatch as ongoing protagonists and watching their ranks slowly grow actually gives some meaning to the 'Gathering' part of Magic's title, which is awesome! :D

I'd say Rick Sanchez(from Rick & Morty) for your wild creativity, Pee-Wee Herman for your wacky sense of humor, and Dr. Leonard McCoy for the way you doggedly safeguard the health and ongoing survival of your patient(which is Magic, obviously). :)
