the monster in the woods || Norman & N

When Norman came to work that morning, he expects it to be like any other day. He’s got a number of challengers lined up, some paperwork to do during his free time before picking up some groceries on his way back home later in the evening. It’s just the sort of day that he liked. A familiar routine that gives him a sense of stability in his life. 

So, when afternoon rolled along and he hears a voice frantically calling for him, he knows something has happened.

The Gym Leader quickly leaves the main arena, moving past the dojo (and giving assuring waves to his Gym Trainers) till he reaches the front door. There, he sees a young man, breathing heavily with his hands on his knees. He looked like he just ran a mile to get here. Upon hearing his breathless explanation, Norman thinks that might just be the case. 

Petalburg Woods is the home of many critters, but most of the time, the Pokemon there are pretty low leveled, with maybe one or two really strong ones living deep within the woods. Though, it usually consist of Grass or Bug types. This time, it seems like they have a guest of the dangerous kind. Why would a couple of Salamence settle here of all places remains a mystery, but their presence could be quite unsettling for both the Pokemon living there and unsuspecting people.

So, as Petalburg City’s Gym Leader, he has a duty to keep the peace, and protect the safety of the people of Pokemon within his city, and surrounding areas. Petalburg Woods falls under his jurisdiction -- even if it’s technically not on the books -- so he has the responsibility to check things out himself and take the best course of action. 

After Norman thanked the young man, he disappears back into his main office for a moment, before he returns with his belt filled with Pokeball. He had switched out his Gym team for his main team, for he is not ignorant to believe this would be an easy matter to fix peacefully. Once instructions are given, he leaves the Gym with purpose, heading towards the familiar path to the forest.

Though, when he reaches the entrance, he spots the figure of another standing nearby. Norman frowns a little, then approaches.

“Excuse me young man. I’m afraid I must ask you to leave this forest. There are dangerous Pokemon in there, and I do not want civilians to accidentally get hurt.”
