20 years ago I fell in love with a stupid, stupid movie with silly characters and cool alien villains. 20 years later, it kinda happened again, except this time it is even stupider and sillier, with less memorable scenes and music. But, while I can pinpoint the usual, bland bullshit stuff that Roland Emmerich seems to do in every one of his movies, I just really love the fact that Resurgence is an actual sequel that, behind all those flashy special effects and its 2-dimensional characters, actually tries to expand and continue the (so-called) story, which is pretty impressive considering the shoot’em up premise.

Oh, haters are gonna hate, but I loved the embarrassingly blatant sequel hook (that’s probably not gonna happen) at the very end of the film. Give me my trashy space trilogy, Hollywood!

So there is a book called “Independence Day: Silent Zone” about Dr. Okun. It’s a prequel to the 1996 movie. I guess it covers Dr. Okun’s days at CalTech and why he was chosen for Area 51. Soooo... I bought it of course! It’s supposed to get here tomorrow. I figure (sadly) there wont be anything about him and Dr. Isaacs, but that’s okay because once I get it and read it I’m just gonna revamp via fanfics and fic that little issue. So that’s what I’m doing with my week, reading and then re-writing a book hahahah.
