I love them
I just found out that the writer & mangaka of Kieta Hatsukoi released a oneshot recently with bonus content about Ida and Aoki! I'm going to purchase it and see if I can sufficiently translate it. However, if anyone who speaks Japanese would be willing to do that I'd gladly send you the raws!
some old idaokis.. holding hands scene<3

i usually hate conflicts having to do w being out abt ur identity or a queer relationship that u’re in but the way it happened b/w ida and aoki just made so much sense for them so much so that i’m able to turn a blind eye to it and even enjoy it
ida has never paid any mind to romance in general his whole life let alone feeling romantic attraction to anyone LET ALONE another guy, so it’s a given that he wouldn’t rlly know/understand that it’s “normal” for a man and woman to be tgt instead of two ppl of the same gender. that’s why it’s also a given that he didn’t understand why aoki was so insistent on hiding the fact that they were dating and why he doesn’t deal w the same internalized homophobia that aoki fought thruout the series. he even outwardly says that them dating isn’t smth they have to hide
he believes that aoki’s ashamed to date him specifically instead of aoki being internally ashamed of dating a guy in general bc ida hasn’t fully internalized that society doesn’t consider it normal. top that off w his innate inability to lie and u get why he came out to the rest of his vb team abt him and aoki effectively also outing aoki
aoki on the other hand has not only exclusively liked girls b4 ida (making him have the presumption that het ppl r the norm even while in love w ida), but he also experienced direct homophobia while being w ida, so it makes sense that he didn’t want to experience that again nor did he want ida to experience it. do i still think ida was a bit wrong for outing both him and aoki. yes but aoki also never properly expressed his fear and why he didn’t want ppl knowing abt him and ida, and ida is someone who genuinely would not have known why bc of his past experiences (or lack thereof in this case) so i think they were both at fault for it. but it’s ok bc they figured it out in the end. by talking to e/o. love
