Allow me, if you will, to indulge in my own silly delusional theory. Okay, so a while back I made a joke post about how if Daryl's happy ending turns out to be shuffling him off into a romance at the end of this show, then it should be him riding off into the sunset with Aaron. (Which, at the time, I did not ship, but boy did that throwaway comment grow inside my brain like a beautiful weed I can never uproot again.)
AND
I recently saw a post wondering how they can realistically add a new female love interest to the show and have the audience like her and make it seem plausible that Daryl fall in love with her in such a short amount of time. (The argument for this was that Beth is mysteriously alive conspiracy thing that some people love and the rest love to hate.) Since Carol is off the table and Isabelle is dead (no mention at all of Connie as a possibility... but you know...). Anyway, I did jokingly reply that maybe it's because there's no female love interest and they're actually revisiting the original concept of having Daryl as a gay character. BUT the more I thought about it, guys... I mean, Daryl hasn't had time to delve into his feelings or explore romance, they said. And maybe that kiss made him finally start to realise something about himself he hadn't had time to or had been actively avoiding all this time. They said this series was a "reset" for Daryl's character and maybe.... they're resetting it to when Daryl's sexuality was going to become a little less ambiguous and he was intended to be gay and have a male love interest. Norman was very much in favour for this direction so if he's having a hand in the way the new story unfolds then, hey, maybe he's back on the sexy train to gay town.
Now, do I think this is a real possibility? Maybe. The chances are very slim. But I'd argue no slimmer or less plausible than Beth being alive, making a come back and getting together with Daryl romantically at the end of it all.
At this point in life I need someone to message me and ask to just hang and talk.
I wanna take someone on a date and cook for them.
