on the topic of 9/11 happy 6 year anniversary to me bursting into tears one month into 6th grade because our history class talked about 9/11 and i remembered that my oldest sibling lost out on parts of his elementary school years because he wasn’t allowed to be open about his culture in the wake of rampant islamophobia. also shout out to the girl that held my hand while i cried we did not stay friends for very long and i think she’s doing pretty terribly right now actually but that was extremely kind of her so i wish her well always.

not to say something potentially controversial about politics on main but my biggest pet peeve is when people celebrate someone of a minority group winning a position or being a “first” without saying anything about their policies or even what fucking party they’re in. because yes sure i think it’s great we’re moving steadily into a government that is filled with more than just old white men. however someone’s sexuality or ethnicity does not dictate their policies and some queer or non-white politicians have really shitty policies, actually.

i know nobody here is into soul calibur but i wrote a fic for it ages ago and just got a few comments on it i replied to, and i went looking through the tags i put on the fic and apparently that fic is literally the ONLY leixia/natsu fic so basically I might write some SC stuff eventually bc there is literally like nothing in that fandom the works are all explicit and not great with the small exceptions and it does mean a lot to me. but DSMP and AA take precedence so.

anyway people assuming that asexuals and ace-spec people are all one sort of definite form of sex-repulsion is so weird because every sexual orientation has nuance to it and means something different to each person. i have countless online friends who are on the asexual spectrum obviously but just focusing on people i know closely IRL, i have 5 other friends who are on the asexual spectrum including myself, and ALL of us have different experiences and views and boundaries. all of us view our asexuality completely differently.

and while i haven’t encountered this rhetoric personally so i can’t speak to how abundant it is, the prev rb pointed out that like, some people think asexuals have political views on sex and it’s like... no? there are asexual sex workers. there is no default view on sex for asexuals.

some asexuals are sex positive, some asexuals are sex indifferent, some asexuals are sex repulsed, and some asexuals handshake with me in Not Knowing! and that’s okay!

so yeah it’s weird people think all asexuals are sex repulsed and approach both media and real people like that like. asexuality has just as much nuance to it as any other sexual orientation. i’d take a guess and say that the lack of education around asexuality leads people to have misconceptions so as an LGBTQIA+ effort we should make sure to have more open conversations about asexuality.
