#idiotic characters

If only this library book was my own book, I would totally write in the margins to this character/person, "Wow. . .you are an idiot."

Does anyone else get annoyed at characters who just remain vague and cryptic when it makes no fucking sense? I'm referring mostly to supernatural season 6 when Dean is trying to deal with being a hunter and having a family. Any time it comes up in conversation with Lisa or Ben, he just says "I can't" or "It's too dangerous" or something else to that effect, and he never elaborates.

Except there's no fucking reason for that, because Dean has a long list of bodies and reasons for not wanting them in that he can pull out. It's not like Ben and Lisa don't know about his line of work. If he wants to keep them out, he can mention that his dad, mom, brother's girlfriend, Jo, Ellen, Ash all died. And that's just collateral damage. Dean himself went through hell, died who knows how many times, got cut and shot and stabbed too many times to count, is a serious alcoholic, caught in the crossfire between heaven and hell, and as Bobby put it, "Will either have his guts out by age 30 or outlive all his friends and end up in a sanitorium". He got vamped, werewolfed, possessed, etc. He became a fugitive and will not be able to ever shake that (the only way the cops get off their asses is when they're declared dead). He became a professional liar because once you're in the life, you're never out. Eventually you're gonna shank something that had family. That family will drag you or your family down to a hole six feet deep.

I mean, I know they're not the most expressive of individuals. Dean doesn't have to write a poem, but he could fucking mention at least one of those things. He's done it before when talking to people. It's like they're ignoring his past speeches about the life in favour of creating conflict. I hate when they do that.
