Okay this AU has just consumed my life because what if Reverse AU where Bdubs is the Idol and Etho is the teacher instead. Teacher! Etho is the scary looking physics/ mechanics teacher who is actually really nice when you get to know him (he grades horribly though.)
When you, a new student enters Mr. Slab’s classroom, you can’t help but notice his sharp glare, that one scar on his face that makes him look tough and that mask. You take your seat and he prepares his presentation.
Everyone sees the desktop of his computer— Why was it just an extremely colorful screen cap of the Idol Bdouble O?????? huh???? It’s incredibly jarring.
He doesn’t explain himself, or even address the shocked looks across the room. He just loads up the slideshow and starts teaching.
It’s weird, cause the man never talks about himself. He’s funny, and makes jokes, sometimes poking fun at students. But the class doesn’t know much about him. Many things are figured out through weird context clues, like the wedding band on his ring finger, or the rosette with the Bdubs can badge on his backpack. His ring tone is Bdubs’ solo, there are a few peices of Bdubs’ merch in his desk.
(Adding read more because I ended up writing a bit)
It’s just one day, at the national mechanics competition, where Mr. Slab was supervising the school robotic’s team, He gets a call and tells the team he needs to head outside. The team is left alone to set up.
“Where’s your supervisior?” A staff member asks them. “I need to talk to him.”
The team goes out to try to find him, only to find him talking to some suspicious guy dressed in a fuzzy green hoodie.
“Sorry Dubs, I didn’t mean to mix up our staff cards.” Their Robotics teacher looks like a sopping wet fox, rubbing the back of his neck as he towers over the smaller man.
“You’re lucky I only had practice this morning nearby! Etho! Be more careful!”
“Sorry Bdubs….”
Wait— Bdubs?!
The students glance at each other in shock, no way— How did Etho know the Idol?!
“Love you, you goof. Good luck with the robotics competition today, tell me all about it at home!” The idol pulls their teacher down and gives him a kiss.
They’ve never seen Mr. Slab look so flustered, loosing his usual cool aloof persona.
As Bdubs runs off, the students stand there, stunned, staring at their teacher as he turns around noticing who had just saw him.
“Oh snap.”
“Mr. Slab—“
“You saw that… Didn’t you lot?” He hisses beneath his mask.
“…”
Etho just pinched the bridge of his nose, muttering something under his breath. “We’re going to pretend you saw nothing. You will tell no one, or else.”
The team nods terrified. Mr. Slab was terrifying when he wanted to be.
“Good, you can ask questions on the bus ride back to school. Now, what do you need me for?”
(They won. And he got to tell Bdubs all about it at home. Bdubs laughing at the fact that the students saw it because tbh he doesn’t care that much, considering joining the school’s career day. Etho only huffs in annoyance, giving him a peck on the cheek.)
Etho slab cannot be normal about Bdubs— He is the biggest Bdubs otaku to ever otaku. So, his students slowly learn, and they eventually find out why 😋😋😋
Writing Idol! Bdubs is so fun (Ethubs Teacher x Idol AU)
He’s lost in the limelight, dancing under neon lights as he sings. His makeup is pretty, his outfit is stunning and he’s just so perfect to be in the center of attention.
Being an artist is a craft in itself, a curated skill only he has perfected. A persona, an appearance all like values of a painting. He banters and laughs with talk hosts and charms the audience like a precise stroke of a paintbrush. His steps are deliberate and his voice is tuned.
Every joke about his height, his favourite food, his hobbies. He does it because he knows the audience loves him. And that is what establishes him as a legendary Idol. The perfect liar.
For a newbie in a unit full of entertainment industry veterans he’s absolutely fantastic, they all know he was destined for stardom.
And Etho is fiercely proud of him, he attends every concert and event— No matter how busy he is with high-school, university, his government job, his eventual teaching job. He’s often mistaken as a crazy idol otaku (he is, just Bdubs’ exclusively though. In private, in public.)
The Idol’s eyes are always looking into the crowd, searching for his favourite fan, his anchor that tethers the star to earth.
