Sport has historically played an important role in all societies, be it in the form of competitive sport, physical activity or play. April 6 is the United Nations’ (UN) International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, which recognizes the power of sport in promoting peace and erasing cultural barriers worldwide. On August 23, 2013, the UN proclaimed that the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace would be celebrated on April 6 each year. The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace promotes healthy lifestyles and emphasizes focus on giving as many people as possible access to sport. Today is International Day of Sport for Development and peace ✌️ - At FABE International Foundation, we are always finding opportunities to get our youths involved in environmental sustainability projects. - We believe sport has the power to change our world and as such, we have witnessed sport inspire young people to unite, and embrace hope amidst all challenges. - We have seen sport demonstrate inclusion among young people and make them believe in themselves again. For us, sport has and will continue to bring young people together to embrace environmental sustainability. - We cleaned the Lagos Marina Environs(3 streets), collected 350 bags of plastics, cans and other debris and planted 25 trees 🌲 inside the #CamposStadium - We tagged it #EcoSports it was organized for young people in #Lagos and #Zaria in #Nigeria and we played the first ever #AmericanFootball at the campos stadium in Lagos, with the @Lagosmarines and @abutitans and of course the ever cheering @Marinecheerleaders This served as a tool to drive environmental related sustainable development goals and make it actionable by creating awareness for positive social change to #TidyNigeria - #idsdp #idsdp2018 #sport #peace #development #environment #change #socialchange #trees4earth #thingswedo4sports #weplaytogether #sportforabetterlife #iplayforthesdgs #sdg #globalgoals #tidynigeria #americanfootball #live #sportday
