I know I usually have like. A bit of an analysis post (and I'm usually wrong) everytime a character's skills are announced so here we go gamers:

Once again, it's very hard to tell how Phillip will turn out. I really like the idea that he can close off windows and immobilize survivors, and also that he punishes stunners this way.

I think my main concerns with his effectiveness are: how do survivors remove wax and how long does it take, how does his full presence skill work in terms of the time it takes to damage survivors, and how long does it take for him to immobilize a survivors/block a window with his base skill? Also like. What his cooldowns/recharge times are like because that's always very relelvant

I think he has a lot of potential, but doesn't particularly answer the current survivor meta - as in, he doesn't hard-counter any of the S-tier survs (though it does seem like he counters priestess a bit? Maybe?). Harassing stunners shouldn't be too bothered by him either, because they can just get out of the area once wax starts to build up. He also has no counter to merc or psychologist, which is unfortunate. His camp seems a bit sub-par, though maybe he can force after-half saves like Ann? I also don't think he'll be too good for map pressure, though the wax slowing decoding is a nice touch if it's not easily removed.

Still, Naiad is getting tournament play so maybe Wax Artist will find his niche as well!

EDIT: forgot that he has an automatic 10% faster stun time, which is very nice! I wonder if running Rage against stun comps will be a play, like Berserk Joseph - really maximizing the trait. I feel like Batter will find a lot of use against him as a harasser who doesn't rely on stuns.

Phillip gameplay has appeared! He seems pretty difficult to use imo but that's okay

I think the rate at which wax accumulates is good, but the rate it goes down is a bit alarming. Kinda looks like pre-buff Naiad in that sense. His recharge and cooldowns are also good, hitbox looks supbar & so does movement speed (I figured it would be tbh)

He's also much like Ann in the sense of being a largely single hit hunter (though at full presence he gets limited double hit capability), though his camp definitely will not be as good as hers.

Overall, I'm curious to see how people utilize him - I think that's really going to determine his usefulness bc at his base level, he definitely looks kitable and slow, but I can see the potential of him - probably as like a specialist pick if i had to predict it, the way we've been seeing hunters like geisha & soul weaver in tournament play
