I don't know you that much but if you want...
*slides in* I’m half persuaded to jump on this ship already I’m listening
ALRIGHT I’M GONNA ATTEMPT TO PULL YOU IN ALL THE WAY.
Imagine Lil’ ‘zo being sick of being locked up in Radiant Garden’s castle all day and sneaking out, thinking ‘I’m going to explore and have fun and--’ oh. There’s monsters?! Then this boy just appears out of nowhere and saves him. He’s tall and dressed like a knight and has a keyblade just like the ones in his story books. Before he can overcome his shock and thank the older boy he’s whisked away by one of his guardians and golly does he wants to see that boy again.
Fast forward to his years in the Organization, Xemnas is looking for something. A room in a castle where-- you guessed it-- the sleeping hero lies. Zexion feels a twinge of something, excitement maybe, when Xemnas tells him he is going to be assigned to Castle Oblivion to find the Chamber of Wakening. He knows Ventus is there because he can sense him, and as he wanders the halls of Castle Oblivion he knows he’s getting closer but never close enough. The halls just wind and converge and fade into one another and it’s so... annoying. He needs to find that room, he wants to find it before anybody else. Not like he knows what he’ll do when he gets there, besides reporting it to Xemnas of course… no, he wants to do something else. What? Thank the comatose body? Perhaps just seeing him again is enough. He never finds the room.
Fast forward some more. Ienzo is himself again and it’s great, wholeness is something he would never take for granted again. Him and the other former-apprentices resolve to help the keyblade wielders they once (regretfully) opposed in order to redeem themselves in any way they can. Ienzo learns something amazing, though, that the wielders are going to wake up Ventus. All Ienzo can think, though, is golly does he want to see that boy again.
