So we’ll start this episode with me lamenting my lack of gif-making abilities.
Because Helen’s hair was so damn curly and bouncy and gorgeous as she stormed into the elevator that no screencap could do it justice.
Oh, and she is storming into the elevator to go see Kate and possibly cause her serious bodily injury.
Or maybe just threaten her a bit and then have a wee hint of a breakdown.
Okay, no lie, one of the things I love most about this episode is watching how completely unhinged Magnus becomes in her own unique Magnus way. Like, for any average person, the way she’s acting is a fairly reasonable reaction to her daughter being kidnapped and turned into an uber-Vamp. Maybe even understated. But for Helen Magnus? 157 year old I have seen everything and nothing shocks me and oh by the way my ex is Jack the Ripper Helen Magnus? This is the equivalent of a) going on a shooting spree b) literally tearing her hair out c) curling up into the fetal position never to move again or d) all of the above.
And to her credit, I’m pretty sure Kate recognizes that. Because at first she was her usual sarcastic irreverent self, but when Magnus talks about what the Cabal turned Ashley into, you can see Kate really getting what’s happening here. And maybe even empathizing a bit. (That would make sense with what we see later of her relationship with her little brother. She’s a protector at heart.)
