I've gotten to the point where I can see that I'm having a contraction in my life process, and I dread it and hate it while it's happening, but I can compost things faster now and very quickly find value in my own suffering.
Basically, if it hurts, don't do it. If it feels good - move towards that. We're taught at an early age to not do this, but then we spend a lifetime learning that this is the only sane way forward.
