For a moment, Jason’s not sure what’s going on. TIME seemed to have slowed down and there’s an unfamiliar look on Keith’s face, a look he’d HOPED he’d never get to see, one he’d always know he would see.
The CRIMSON color on Keith’s clothing told him everything he needed to know, looking down at his own chest just to be sure. There wasn’t any pain, but the thought of DYING scared him. This wasn’t like the first time, this wasn’t PERSONAL or to hurt someone else. It hurt more to know that it would hurt KEITH than anything else.
“I-I’m--” He pressed his hand up to his mouth as he coughed up BLOOD, blinking a couple of times to realize that he’d fallen onto his back. “I... I’m SORRY.” I’m sorry that I wasn’t good enough, I’m sorry that I’m leaving you, I’m sorry that you LOVED me.
