It was dusk. Mainly, at this time, Chum set out into the brisk, dark waters in search of an evening snack. But after saying that stupid oath with Bruce, all was quiet. He didn’t mean to actually take in this new ‘diet’. As a matter of fact, it sounded like a joke! Bruce was the meanest, most brutal feeder the little mako knew. What brought up this new, ‘fish are friends’ stuff?
So, instead of enjoying swimming through the gruesome bloodbath his other shark friends were able to enjoy, Chum swam through the corridors of the trio’s sunken, dilapidated ship. He grumbled to himself as he peeled off bits of moss and kelp for his friends.
‘How stupid.’ He thought. This had to be a joke that Bruce and Anchor were playing on him. Sure, they were his friends, but…c’mon!
Chum returned from his run for greens to eat with the others, dropping them in a pile in the captain’s room. Getting the leafy kelp out of his teeth, he swam up to Bruce to speak.
"Do we really have ta’ do this diet? Ah’ mean, c’mon, Bruce! It ain’t like no one’s heart with eatin’ fish!" He started his argument bluntly, crossing his fins.
//Sorry if this is unneeded, but I would like to point out in my audition that the blog for my character has already been made, and it's at snagglextooth. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Ben went as pale as a ghost, feeling his stomach tie in knots as he walked into the room. He stared at the blood with wide eyes, taking in the smeared red all over Brinn and covering some of the floor. “I-I…” He started, but couldn’t finish. There was just so much of it. His heart raced, his stomach churned to the point until…
Ben ran out of the room and to the bathroom, then opening up the toilet to begin vomiting. Retching, he shivered at the thought of the blood. Of it coming out, of it just being there. It made him feel, well…
Like vomit.
Her mouth fell open as she watched him run off and she had to take another look down at her dirtied hands before she realized what just happened. Brinn could hear Ben retching from the next room and her heart twisted in guilt. I didn't think... Blood just didn't phase her, but she couldn't forget how it affected others. Damnit.
She fought the urge to go after him, knowing she'd only make him worse without cleaning up first. Instead she slipped into the bedroom to grab a change of clothes, careful not to drip blood on the carpet. Most of it had dried but her shirt still shinned wetly under the kitchen lights as she peeled it off, stripping down to her underwear and turning on the sink with her elbow.
It wasn't like she could just hop in the shower, not with Ben in the bathroom getting sick because of her.
"It’s fine!" Brinn held up both hands quickly, each one splotched in a deep rusted red. The color soaked her clothes and even smeared its way across her right cheek. "Please don’t freak out. It’s not mine. I had a patient…he had to go to the hospital but he’ll be alright. ” She grabbed for a towel but it was quite clear the stains would take a lot more coaxing to get out.
Ben had been searching thought Brinn’s cabinets for something to snack on, as he had been staying there for the day. He didn’t usually stay at friend’s houses, due to the fact that it seemed like something kids do.
But, on a social level, he was like a kid.
Not finding anything satisfying, Ben swung open Brinn’s bedroom door…
And there she was.
Ben didn’t know how to react. His mouth dropped at the sound his name being shouted, but couldn’t say anything back. A dark pink flushed onto his face, making himself a bit limp as he stood in the doorway. Soon enough after staring for what seemed like an eternity, he made out just a few words.
"…I-I’ll leave y-you be…" He nodded his head before shutting the door quickly.
Brinn laid in bed with her heart pounding, head under the covers until she heard the door slam and was sure he'd left. Stupid, you couldn't have waited? Her mind demanded, Or at least locked the door, or gone into the bathroom, or-
There were a lot of things she probably could have done, or more importantly not done, to avoid being caught like that, but it's not exactly like she'd planned on doing anything. She'd just been changing clothes and it, well, these things sorta happen...
Stupid. Her mind echoed. The girl sighed and peeked out from under the covers. Realizing the coast was indeed clear she crept out of bed, finding the pajamas she'd planned on putting on minutes ago and getting dressed.
"Ben?" She'd call into the hallway softly, inching open her door. Part of her suspected he would actually leave after that, part of her hoped he didn't. It'd do no good to avoid him now. If she let this go for too long they might never speak again.
