Finn stared blankly into his opened locker. He figured this was something he should probably be doing before his classes began that day. It seemed like a rather simple task. However, a certain girlfriend of his was generally confused by this non-action.
Rachel slowly approached Finn by his locker. "Finn, I must ask you if you're feeling alright today." She gained his attention. "You seem out of sorts."
He reached up to rub the back of his neck for a moment. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I just had a really rough night." He dropped his hand. "Have you ever– Well, have you ever had a dream that felt so real that it's like you didn't even sleep?"
"Yes. I happen to have this reoccurring nightmare that constantly wakes me up. I'm on stage, in the spotlight, but I open my mouth and nothing comes out but the unexpectedly entertaining 'Tiptoe Through the Tulips' by Tiny Tim."
"Well yeah but I mean, it wasn't like a nightmare. Or it I guess it kind of was or could've been, but it was more just draining. Like it was an extra long football practice or something."
"Oh. I imagine you must have woken up during the REM stage in your sleep cycle. This isn't good, Finn. We have to amend this. Ideally, one is supposed to wake up after REM and before Stage One."
"Okay." He yawned. He had no idea what she was talking about. And wasn't REM a band?
"So what was it about? Your dream?" She clarified out of respect for his (confused) face.
"I don't even know. Like this whole school year basically happened, but it was really weird."
Newhart did it first could probably best be explained as a spoof, but that doesn't exactly do it justice. The one-shot by ihatepeeps pretty much sums up all the craziness that was Season 2 of Glee and gives a logical explanation for it: it was a really rather messed-up dream Finn had one night. A definite laugh - and a must-read!
