                     Utter relaxation overcame Frederick as he dipped                  a weary foot into the bathtub. He let out a long sigh,                 content as the delicate bubbles gathered around his                 body as he sunk ever lower into the warm water that                 smelled of roses.

                     Before  he  could  completely  settle in, however,                  the   familiar   creaking   of   the  door sounded and                 Frederick glanced over with a tired smile.

                                  “ — Ah, Mischa; there you                              are.  I  was  wondering  when                              you'd join me.”

                     Frederick let out a small chuckle as  he watched                  Mischa  undress  then  slip into the tub beside him.                  The  doctor   glanced   over   at   her, appreciation                 evident on his face.

                                 “ — How was your day?”

                 Arms flailing, Frederick fell down upon the bed. He almost             cried out in surprise, but soft, hungry lips muffled the sounds,             and  his  yelp  of  fright  soon  turned into groans of pleasure.

                 He kissed  Mischa  back  with  equal  fervour,  tangling his             fingers in her hair before moving them  deftly  down her back.             Frederick  pulled  Mischa  closer  until  he  ran out of air from              the kiss, then  gazed  up at her longingly. His chest rose and             fell as he struggled to regain his breath.

                            “ — Yes,” he replied. “I'm all yours.”

  Mischa was honestly surprised at his reaction; pleasantly surprised, at that. Her dark brown eyes found his blue ones, noticing a certain glint in his them as he pulled her towards him by her shoulders, his palms engulfing them entirely.   She smiled against his lips, her arms wrapping around his neck, and her eyes closing as they kissed, her palms finding their way to his hair, fingers running through the strands on the back of his head.   He was unpracticed, but so was she. She’d never loved anyone before, not even nearly enough to merely kiss them.  She felt as though her heart would burst — or burst into flames. She hadn’t expected such a strong reaction, but.. She didn’t mind. Mischa took a moment to pull away slightly, faces still close, but far enough that she could breathe out a few cheeky words.     “… It seems as if you’ve been holding on to that for quite awhile, Frederick.” She teased, adding shortly after;    “—Hmm.. How long exactly..?”  She tipped her head a little, a playful smile still upon her lips. Her hands rested on the back of his neck, fingers gently playing with the black hair nearing his neck

                     How long had Frederick been waiting for this? Forever,                  it  felt  like.  As  he  leaned  into  the  kiss,  pressing  their                  bodies  together,  the  only  thought  running  through the                  doctor's mind  was  how  beautiful  Mischa  was.  Indeed,                  she was unlike any other woman he had met — she had                  a certain  sort of passion within her, and a determination                  that made him feel little else but lust towards her.

                     Mischa's  hair  was  soft and glossy, and he remarked                  the  very  texture  of  the  fine strands and he tangled his                  fingers  into  her  hair,  enjoying ever moment of the kiss.                  Small,  pleasured  groans  escaped  from  his lips, which                  were   the   beginnings  of   ‘I   love   you’s.   The   words,                  however, never had  a  chance  to  leave  his  mouth,  so                  caught up was he in the kiss.

                     Chilton  relished  in  the  sound of  the  woman's voice.                  He  adored  the  low timbre, and the way that the tone of                  her  words  teased  him  with  every  syllable. He grinned                  with kiss-bruised lips, breathless from  the  embrace only                  moments   before.   Frederick   slid  his   hands  down  to                  Mischa's waist, where  he  held  her on the spot securely.

                                “ — Too long,” the man admitted                             quietly,  bringing  their  lips together                             again.

                     Silence hung in the air, as thick as the blankets                  that surrounded the pair.  Frederick gazed over at                  Mischa, her eyes soft  and  trusting, and he knew,                  in that moment,  that  he could tell her anything. It                 took  the  doctor  all  of  his  strength to collect his                  thoughts,  and,  with  a  sigh,  began  to  form  his                 words.

                             “ —  I shall be perfectly honest                         with  you,  Mischa. I must admit, I                         don't    remember   much   of   my                          childhood.       But,      you    must                         understand, my mother was quite                          fond of  drink. She   liked  to  take                         away  my   toys   for   no   reason,                          though  it  was  usually  when she                         had a bottle in her hand. Perhaps                         the   worst     memory    from   my                          childhood was  when  I  invited  a                         rather   cute  boy  over,  and   my                          mother had  lost  her temper  and                         told  me  last-minute  that he was                         never allowed to visit again. That,                          as you can  imagine,  scared him                          off.”

                     He  gave  Mischa  a small,  hesitant smile and                  looked   away.  That   memory   itself   wasn't  as                 painful   as    what   had   happened   afterwards.                  Frederick  glanced   downwards   at   nothing   in                  particular,   fiddling    absentmindedly    with   his                  fingers. It was an odd  habit  of  his,  and  one he                 didn't   exhibit   too   often; only  in times of great                 stress. 

                             “ — The  boy,   he...   spread                          rumors    around    the    school.                         Then,  everyone avoided me for                        the  rest  of  the  year.  Isn't that                         hilarious? Haha, I laughed  too.”

I felt bad for you; pitied you. *pauses a moment* --Look at yourself, Frederick.. Why would I be interested in a man like you? You're arrogant; rude.. Pompous. And all for what? To hide a soft, broken, lonely little man inside..? No. I don't love you, and I never will.. How could anyone ever love a person like you? -- Now.. Please. Leave."

                     A smile that had once graced Frederick's lips                  faltered,  breath  catching in his throat. Mischa's                 words  pierced  him  as  sharp as a knife. It was                  as    though     he   could    feel    each   syllable                  penetrating  his  flesh  and impaling his heart. If                  her   words   were  the   blade,  Frederick's own                  were the blood which oozed from his soul.

                             “ — Mischa, no... you-                          you   can't   be-  are  you                          serious?   You...  please,                          don't   do   this,   Mischa,                         please.  Please   don't...”

                     By   the    woman's   tone,   Frederick   knew                  immediately that she was serious. Mind reeling,                 the  doctor  stumbled   backwards  towards  the                 door.  What   had  he  done wrong? He was still                  trying to  process her  words  as  he  groped for                 the doorknob and found his way outside.

                     The cold wind bit Frederick's face, chilling the                 trails of tears which marked his cheeks. Leaving                 his  coat  behind, he knew it was too late for him                 to ever  return  again.  Mischa  no  longer  loved                 him — but  had  she  ever?  The  thought  stung                  him bitterly. He had invested everything he held                 dear  into  her.  He  loved  her. Love was not an                 easy  emotion  for  the  doctor  to  express,  and                 he barely  knew  how. Thus,  everything  he  did                 was a challenge.

                    He trusted Mischa. With his life. And, in a way,                Frederick felt  betrayed. Everything she had ever                 done  was  a  lie.  As the doctor made his way to                his   car,  what  was  once  confusion soured into                bitter  agony.   Trembling,   he  collapsed   in  the                driver's seat and wept.
