Silim! What do you use to generate the cuneiform characters you provide with your translations?
Silim!
I actually use a multi-step process to find out and add the cuneiform to my posts. First, I look up what the transliterated form of the cuneiform sign is, using Halloran (2006) and the ePSD (warning: hard-to-use!). I used to just use the ePSD images, but nowadays I go to the wikipedia cuneiform sign list (which is pretty comprehensive) and copy-paste the relevant sign. I’ve also got a quick-reference document on my computer with the most common signs (𒀀,𒀭,𒆠,𒇽 and the like) that I copy-paste from to save time. It’s a time-consuming process, but not the most difficult once you’re used to it.
I’ve heard there’s a cuneiform app on the App Store, but as I run this blog on desktop I haven’t downloaded and can’t vouch for it. There also used to be a java applet available online which allowed you to click on a series of signs and it would provide the text, but the applet is in German, only included a few dozen signs, and seems to have gone offline recently.
If anybody else knows of a similar program to make copying in signs quick & easy, please let me know!
