Dear Parents and Students,
Thank you so much for your last book orders. The books will be arriving in about 2 weeks.
Something new this year is the chance to order books online directly from Scholastic at the same great discounted prices. The great thing about online ordering is that Room 267 earns bonus points for every book you purchase! Those bonus points will be used to continue to build our already awesome class library. Plus, for every online order, our class receives a free book!
Here’s how it works:
SIGN UP at www.Scholastic.com/bookclubs. On the parent page, click the "Don't have a User Name and Password?" link, then register for your own username and password. When prompted, enter the one-time Class Activation Code: HV8BG. This code ensures that your order is sent to our classroom.
SELECT the books you'd like to order from over 500 titles available online...AND take advantage of online-only specials and discounts.
SEND your order to me online by the due date. Books will be delivered directly to our classroom.
Ordering online is the most convenient way to use Scholastic Book Clubs. You can order anytime, right up until the online order due date. You’ll also get instant access to over 500 additional titles plus online-only specials and discounts.
And don’t forget: Every time a parent places an order online, we earn a FREE book for our classroom library! If you would rather order books using the paper order forms, that's fine too. Simply complete the attached order form and return it to school with cash or check (payable to Scholastic Book Clubs). Don’t forget to write your name on the order form!
If you have any questions, please email or text me.
Thanks!
:) Ms. Parent
What I Just Read//What I am Reading
I am loving this book! I adore the main character, the father, and his relationship with his 2 children: "The milk-seeking father meets dinosaurs, pirates, aliens, volcano gods, and other assorted obstacles, but he maintains a cheerful attitude, even when faced with the end the universe." Is he telling the truth or just a tall, tall tale. Shamus, Alina, Adel (& your brother Avery) and Lexi, this book reminds me of you guys.
Here's a review: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/fortunately-the-milk
This book is the one I was telling you guys about: Flora and Ulysses! IT IS AMAZING!! I recommend this to all of you :) The one by Kate Di Camillo (author of Tiger Rising and Because of Winn-Dixie)
"t begins, as the best superhero stories do, with a tragic accident that has unexpected consequences.
The squirrel never saw the vacuum cleaner coming, but self-described cynic Flora Belle Buckman, who has read every issue of the comic book Terrible Things Can Happen to You!, is the just the right person to step in and save him. What neither can predict is that Ulysses (the squirrel) has been born anew, with powers of strength, flight, and misspelled poetry—and that Flora will be changed too, as she discovers the possibility of hope and the promise of a capacious heart.
From #1 New York Times best-selling author Kate DiCamillo comes a laugh-out-loud story filled with eccentric, endearing characters and featuring an exciting new format—a novel interspersed with comic-style graphic sequences and full-page illustrations, all rendered in black-and-white by artist K. G. Campbell."
Choose an Investigation
How will you show the class your investigation?
A. Choose a question that you and your partner would like to investigate. Write why you and your partner have chosen this investigation.
B. Determine which science tools in our classroom, objects or things you will need to carry out your investigation. (i.e.,. clay, globes, tennis balls, paper, items from nature, etc.,.)
C. Determine the medium you will use to explore and demonstrate (technology, 2-D, 3-D)
*****************************************************************************************

2. How do lunar cycles cause high and low tides.
3. What are the physical characteristics of the moon and how do they compare to the physical characteristics of the Earth?
4. How does the Earth's atmosphere compare to the Moon's atmosphere?
5. Why do lunar and/or solar eclipses occur?
6. Choose your own question to investigate.
