— noura, if only we had all the time in the world for me to wax poetic about your app! you’ve captured paris’ challenges and motivations with beautiful aplomb, from his near blind desire to please aphrodite to his unrelenting need to take what what he believes is his, whatever the cost. here, you summed it up perfectly: “and so it is: the price of self-destiny is never cheap, nor fair, and certainly unthinkable - but to achieve one’s means, it is precisely the unthinkable that must be thought.”

— we cannot emphasize enough how difficult this decision was, as both applications were fantastic and brimming with character and absolutely lush writing. taryn, we couldn’t help but fall in love with your aphrodite’s absolute and terrible desire to wreak havoc ‘midsummer night’s dream’ style with her own brand of lust and chaos with no regard for anyone and anything but her own queendom. we can’t wait to see her on the dash!

— min! you truly brought life to our favorite mycenaean healer, from his ambition to his softness for briseis and those he works so stridently to heal, to mounting pressure and expectations yet to take their toll. your macheon was a joy to read, and we can’t wait to see him on the dash!

Wow, these roles sure had some competition, huh ! We were very ambivalent about receiving so many reservations, because on one hand, it meant we got to read some fantastic apps and watch the characters we briefly outlined come to life. On the other hand, it meant what it always does: that we could only accept one applicant per role. Thank you all so much for trusting us with your time & creativity, and congrats to those who joined the team this time ! Everyone else is warmly encouraged to apply for one of our open roles.

i. rey as APHRODITE

— from her dark passion for paris, to her habitual string of lovers, everything we hoped to see was there. the prose was wonderfully crafted, some images so vivid we felt quite transported to Aphrodite’s realm of worship, fully submerged in her spell. ‘ pollen and stars and hinges, cream on a fox’s tongue ’. may i just say... we are all swooning ?

ii. rhi as APOLLO

— we know it’s a trite remark, but we genuinely did not believe we could become more obsessed with Apollo’s personage & imagery than we were. with dazzling efficiency, you proved us wrong. some of the sentences in this app are embedded in our brain now. ‘ still, history remains true: the first songs were in the melody of your own voice, scripture curled to the curves of your body. ’

ii. kyoto as PERSEPHONE

— such a close-reading of the way we wrote her skeleton, it’s like every thread we left loose was brought together in your app. ‘ I grew up in sunlight and warmth, and I had once caused much grief to it. ’ Persephone is a phenomenon, and the way you wrote her only reiterated that. from backstory to connections & future plot points, the portrayal was captivating, cohesive, and a pleasure to read !

— ✹ MIA, for the role of PATROCLUS

The aesthetics, the way you highlighted the power imbalance between them & Achilles at times ( though it never is about power, is it, rather than about fate and bloodright ), was absolutely stunning to us ! We loved to see an insight into Patroclus' own apprehensions for the future, and the way they relate to the past. So excited to their see transformation on the dash !
